So what places have you been to? Just thought it would be neat to see all the different places we have all travelled or lived in. Also, where would you like to go in the future?
I've been to the following so far:
Canada

Taiwan
Japan
The Philippines
North Korea
Of the ones that I want to visit these would be at the top of the list:
Thailand
Cuba
Argentina
Cambodia
Vietnam
Egypt
Hong Kong
Singapore
South Africa
China (but only maybe).
How about everyone else? Where are you going, where have you been?

I've been to
Canada
USA
Holland - I was younger when I was visited these places but I remember pretty much everything. Rotterdam and Amsterdam are crowded but beautiful cities with old chapels and cathedrals all over the town. Harlem's wicked too. I love how active European lifestyle is.
Germany - Only drove through and stayed one night.
Belgium - Meh pretty much the same as Holland cept they speak French more often.
Thailand - Ping Pong shows are an overarching metaphor for what it's like in Bangkok at night. Thailand has everything beaches, forest, cities, shopping, partying (The Full Moon Party at Ko Phagnan has around 10000 people on the beach from December to Feb)
Lao - the coolest jungle and foothills around! Hill tribes are wicked
Cambodia - the government is run by the mob, and this is the place you're probably gonna get some stuff stolen from you, but man was it an experience! They have such a brutal past. It was suprising to see so many positive people.
Indonesia - I was only here for abit, but trekking with Orangutans and Thomas Leaf monkeys was a hilight of my trip, it had amazing scenery and Bali is the coolest party scene around
Vietnam - Nice looking cities and forest, but the people have perfected the art of scamming tourists. I got fed up with that place quickly.

Nicaragua
Ecuador
USA
France
Greece

Well, I guess it would be kinda cool to visit almost everywhere (Except maybe North Korea or Iraq or Somalia? Even then, it would be kind of interesting to actually see North Korea, though maybe not get "disappeared" in it). There's interesting things almost everywhere, really.

Sure, but you still get to see a slight glimpse of how things are run there and what's going on. It's amazing they are letting people in at all because they are so secluded from everyone else. You can't imagine how simple everything is there even though there are glimpses of what is real and what isn't.

Eww..Alberta? Why did you go there? Just curious?
I forgot that Dubai is also on my travel list. Just seems really interesting there with all the growth and construction going on at this time. I've been slightly considering finding work there if possible as well.

The only time I've been outside the US was the senior cruise to the Bahamas. I'd probably go just about anywhere if I could afford it, I love to travel, and have been all over the US with my grandparents. I've always thought I'd like to see England, Ireland, France, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Egypt, and I'm sure I'm forgetting some places.
I've now been to 26 countries not counting airports.(so places i spent at least a full 36 hours in.) I have a list of them somewhere but I don't remember where. When i find it I'll post it. It's take too long to sit here and remember them though. As for where I want to go, I want to go anywhere I haven't been. I'm not picky. I have a soft spot for developing countries the most but that's mostly because they're so cheap I don't have to worry about money as much. I'll be adding another country to my list by the end of the year though (Egypt) and maybe two if I make it down to Tanzania.

Not to poke at anyone but are your parents rich? It seems like a lot of the younger members here have been to a variety of countries. I know that I would like to travel more but I simply can't afford to do so as I'm the only one taking care of myself and I've got no where to go If I don't work and make money to live. I'm a little surprised to see how many people have been to such a large number of countries.

Yes they are, but to be fair, most of the countries I've visited are in Europe, and since I live in one of the countries in Europe(Wait hold up Europe is not a country?) it's not as expensive to get around.
And I forgot to add Australia to the list.
Also my parents own holiday houses in 3 other countries, so I've obviously visited some of the ones I've listed a few times.

Wow, just wow. What kind of work do they do exactly?
Charol: I can't imagine you've been on scholarship in all those countries. What area of expertise are you working on that lets you move around so much in the first place?
I love travelling but when I was younger, I hated having to move around a lot. I'm a diplomatic brat-Baby so that line of work might explain it :-(

It was either graduate a year early or study abroad. I chose to study abroad. Iceland is a program on alternative energies focusing on geothermal and hydropower as well as the economics and policy to make it possible. I had to pay for part of that but I got a half scholarship. Mexico is completely for free and I'll be studying water resource management in conjunction with social movements and NGOs. England isn't anything special, but since I have a $40,000 scholarship per year for my college, it covers England- I just have to pay for food and travel.
There's no excuse to not get a scholarship unless you're a slacker, really. Everyone here is on some kind of scholarship regardless of their family's financial background.

Hey, charolastra, what did you do for undergraduate and where do you find all the scholarships? Is it a particular place or you just surf around and find? I'm kinda wondering, because I think we're on a very similar field and what you're doing sounds kind of... exactly like what I want to do once I graduate.

I am in undergrad. International relations (with a focus on environmental policy), politics, and Latin American studies triple major and possibly an environmental studies minor. I got most through my school's endowment which is where I have my almost full merit scholarship and the rest from the individual study abroad programs.

Me and the girl I'm interested in are seriously thinking of someday moving to Uganda and helping with medical needs there.
My main goals before I do that are to save enough money to live for awhile as well as to become more learned in English, as well as their dialect so I could teach.

Ohhh, I see. I had sort of misread and thought you had already graduated, but either way you're doing THREE different study abroad programs while in university? AND a triple major? Jeez, with a double major and minor I feel my is plate totally full (especially too full for travel). That's pretty cool though... I imagine at some point next year I'll have to go to student affairs and see what kind of programs and scholarships they've got (probably inelegible for half of them, being foreign and all, but it's worth a shot). Have fun in Iceland!
