View Full Version : The AllRPG.com Donation Thread

Alright...so...

What with everything going on lately, I know it's a relatively shitty time to be asking for donations, but with my school schedule accelerating and me entering residency, my hours of actual "work" are being trimmed so I can graduate and get a good dayjob while I pursue the art bit. That being said, the donations those of you have already given ran out awhile ago, and I've been paying for the site, which is getting harder to afford to do what with my other bills, gas prices, so on and so forth.

So...I'm opening up the donation cycle again for any willing donors to help pay for this wonderful place we have, and hoping come the holidays, AllRPG both as forum and site can kinda get rolling. The site has taken SUCH a major backseat and I feel really bad about it, but everyone has been so busy and hiring has gone nowhere despite good efforts. Sadly, the applicants just...well...weren't acceptable. 2 didn't speak English well enough to really help, and the one that did never got back to me after I offered him the job.

I do want to keep to what I said, making AllRPG more user oriented, but it's taking a little longer to implement with my schedule.

So here we go, kids....help us out so we can keep this place and not lose everything....again.

All donations, please send to paypal@perfect-drug.org (this is my new paypal account. the old one was nearly highjacked....don't ask...long story) and make sure when you do you include your AllRPG user Name and real name for when I get the Sponsor pages up.

For Reference(and yes, I'm bringing this up for a reason), none of this is required to post here. It's totally a voluntary thing to donate. Not donating isn't penalized, and I will do whatever I can do, whatever it takes, to keep this place going. If you can help, great. If you can't or don't want to, that's fine too. Please don't criticize those who do, or those who don't, whichever side of the line you fall on. ALL the money you donate goes to paying for this place and this place alone. That's a guarantee and a promise, and I never go back on promises.

Thanks Again
Hyde

I'll see if I can invest a few more bucks back into this place. I have some other finances to take care of at the present time so it wouldn't be right away but I'll see what I can do. I hope others can contribute a few dollars here and there as well, as anything seems to be significant.

I actually just wrote a message to Hyde about this, I'm still a grand in the hole, so I can't make any donations at this time, but once I'm out I'd be more than happy to help out! (We're looking around March or April, but hopefully sooner!)

But I thought what if we did a design contest for t-shirts and such and put them up on cafepress.com? Then maybe we can take the profits from that and use that to fuel the costs of running the site? Just a thought! :) I mean, not only will it give us money, but then members would be wearing shirts with our logo (plus random gaming type jokes?) and might bring in more members!

That's a cool idea EB. I think that could work if we could get some characters screened onto shirts, or have member quotes on there and such.

Characters may be hard because of copyright infringements, I'm not sure how strict Cafepress is with that! We'll have to look into it if we take this idea and run with it!

Maybe but I've seen tons of "internet companies" that silk screen game characters, screen shots and stuff onto shirts and I doubt they get into trouble, otherwise they'd have been shut down some time ago. Regardless perhaps we can get some of our resident artists to create some funny pictures of RPG characters doing things if we need an alternative.

They might get the rights to use them, don't know for sure, just sayin' is all. :)
But that's a great idea for an alternative!

They might get the rights, but I'm not sure either. :p

Regardless, we should start slapping the Allrpg logo onto mugs, shirts, stickers and stuff just like other sites do and maybe we can get some sort of cash flow that way. Just have a small number produced at first to see if it works and then go from there. Obviously we would have to fund raise some income for that first.

Cafepress, you create the idea and then they print it and ship it for you... heh that's why I figured it'd be a good idea, because then they mail you a check for however much money you make. My brother came up with a shirt idea (I may ask him if we can steal it to get profits... it had the old Zelda rupee picture and "x255" then under it it said "I'm rich bitch!" ...yeah...binary + "Rick James" put together...heh)...well anyway, apparently someone bought the shirt because he randomly got a check in the mail for $8 or something from cafepress. lol

Haha, that's even better. I'm obviously not familiar with that site. We should all pool some great quotes like that together and then maybe have Allrpg on the back with the website domain on it. It could work quite well.

This definately sounds like a hot idea.

I somehow missed most of this discussion about merchandise. However, there is one big problem with sites like cafe press: people pay alot for the merchandise and the person/site behind it makes very very little from it without severely jacking up the price. I've already investigated other sites for this for my own stuff, and have discovered that's pretty universal but, I would definitely like to be able to offer merch soon.

Offer anime action figures and the Chrono Cross card game. Offer it all. Why? 'cuz... I WANT IT ALL ... I WANT IT ALL ... AND I WANT IT NOW! BOOOOOM

What is the running cost at the moment? I know you dont get much for the advertisements. That requires a way higher volume of traffic.

I forgot all about this.

I could donate some.

Please feel free... paypal@perfect-drug.org for now.

The running cost changes depending on traffic and such, but it's been manageable. Still...I appreciate the help.
