So what are the things that your friends likes to do but you don't?
I'll start. My friends is crazy with futsal and paintball shootings but I never see why they are so much fun. Not only is f**king expensive to be paying for the renting of equipments and etc., they are just not the real deal. If I want to release stress after work, I rather play my PSP or PS2.

Watch sports. Its not that big of a deal, I dont have total spots nuts for friends but every so often they talk about going to lunch to TGI and watch "the game".

World of Warcraft. Or, it's not that I don't like it, because I've never played it, but it seems like everyone I know plays it. I really don't need to know how many levels you're planning on gaining over the weekend.
Also, cigarettes.

Yaa that too. What is the big deal of having the whole evening spent on watching Arsenal vs. MU in a cafe like what my friends did last weekend. I rather watch it from the comfort of my own home if I have too.

Drinking like crazy, going to drinking parties, watching sports, playing sports games, going to shows, etc.

Going to shitty billiard bars, smoking, drinking bud light, hitting on ugly skanks...

Um. . .
Hrm. . .
I cannot think of any right now. I am sure there are plenty of things, but I am clueless to what they are, and I have known these people for quite some time.

I have a friend trying to get me into that. I just told him that I already have too many damn expensive hobbies.
WoW used to be the thing that everyone of my friends was trying to get me into and I refuse, out of principal.

Getting stoned, listening/dancing/singing along to rap, back yard boxing, beer bonging and keg stands, "robotripping," etc... but generally, even if I don't do something (or don't do it anymore), I can enjoy the atmosphere and have fun just the same. I'm pretty used to being told "you're so weird." ;)

Drinking a lot of cough syrup. lol They get all goofy for a few minutes, then just sit there and stare at the wall. It's retarded. But, if you ever find yourself with a houseful of punks, it's a good way to calm them down for a while.

I can't really think of much that my friends like to do that I don't like to.... except go outside in the cold and smoke cigarettes. Although, I generally don't have to accompany them, so it really doesn't matter. Usually when I do accompany those who smoke I've already had a couple of drinks in me and am impervious to the cold!

My friends have terrible taste in movies. I like to indulge in the occasional chick flick, yeah, but these guys are wow. Therefore I often do not go to the movies with the majority of my friends (I'll live watching their DVDs) and end up dragging my sister along.

My best friend since childhood claims that I haven't lived until I've seen a male stripper... I tell her I don't want to "live," then. I'm sorry, I'd rather watch my sexy boyfriend remove his clothes, not some stranger.
One of my other best friends is obsessed with World of Warcraft...That's something I won't even consider trying because of my addictive personality. She's also obsessed with DDR, another thing that I loathe.
I've got a lot of friends that enjoy the alcohol and drug scenes...and I don't get into that, either.
I also loathe partying... Some of my friends will invite me to parties and I basically uninvite myself.
As far as the "sports" stuff being mentioned in this thread, I'm actually the opposite from my friends in that regard, I love certain sports, and most of my friends are nerdy/dorky and lack the coordination for that.

Ehh, I think we're generally interested in similar things... a few of them have more passion for outdoor or extreme sports than I've ever had, and I spent a few years with another group of people doing my drug and party thing. The friends I have now are fairly similar to me, for the most part... slightly less geeky in some ways, more in others, less mature in many.. but good folks... and interesting.

Depends on what group of friends. My Mexico friends are much more liberal than me (except for one of them who we joke that in 20 years, we'll be Republican senators) and like to go chill out with the Zapatistas. My friends from high school drink to get drunk... which is just embarrassing. My college friends and I are much more alike.

Hey! I'm the annoying DDR playing friend amongst my friends. So many people hate that game...
Yea... I'm basically the friend that has the strange interests that no one else wants to partake in. I like DDR, dancing, and running... most of my friends are guys and do not want to do such things! But, I also like to get drunk off my ass and go to shows, so that is the glue that keeps us together.

I think for me I hate it because I took 10 years of dance lessons, so I just think that game is an utter joke... At least the drum portion in Rock Band is a bit like elementary drum playing... The "dancing" in DDR is nothing like dancing. I just wait for the moment I'm at a party and someone busts out their "DDR" moves... yikes!
I'm sorry, I just know how to dance with taps or ballet slippers strapped to my feet, so I just fail to appreciate that game!

Seems I'm one of the few among my circle of friends who haven't experimented with illegal substences. I just never really saw the point to rapidly killing millions of brain cells that don't regenerate. I'm certainly not starting now that I'm already 4 years into natural brain degeneration.
However, I've made up my mind that if I live to be 90+ then I am taking a massive dose of LSD and DMT together. I would like to experience that out-of-body/cosmic spiritual sensation just once, and if I'm that old I won't have much in the way of functioning brain cells left anyway.
I don't drink often or excessively either. I stop whenever I feel mildly buzzed. No hangover that way :)

Glad I'm not the only one. I detest WoW. I was just at GameStop buying my nephew a gift certificate when I noticed the Frozen Throne on the counter. I told him that I was surprised the still had any and weren't killed for the remaining copies.

Cyrus,
I'm a full time student, I work 31 hours a week at a group home for adolescent males, I sleep regularly, I have an amazing boyfriend that lives an hour away from me, I play piano in what little spare time I get, I've been learning Portuguese, I go to the gym 3-6 days a week depending on my schedule, I play video games with my nephews, I do a lot of things...I just don't party...don't drink...don't do drugs... Didn't realize that this was so abnormal! :p
Polygon,
My brother is always trying to get me into WoW...And I always say, "no thanks, I like having a life!"

Sleeping regularly is awesome...but I have a flipped schedule on the weekends because of work! :( I sleep during the day and work all night. Monday rights the sleep pattern for the rest of the week though. I work for 10 hours then go straight to class for 7! I sleep like a log on Monday night.

I guess, why have a real life, or real friends? In WoW you can just log if if life sucks. I just don't see how someone could stand to spend that much time on anything in one sitting. I play any game for more than a few hours and I start to feel like crap and need to find something else to do.
Plus, WoW is just too boring most of the time. How do people even get sucked in.

Why do people drink cough syrup?
Just go buy some booze.
Then again, people do inhale Duster for shits and/or giggles.
DXM is a cough suppressant, but also causes hallucinogenic experiences if taken in higher doses. Most cough syrups, such as Robotussin, and various other syrups and pills, that one can take, contain DXM, but they also include (for the purpose not using it as a hallucinogenic drug) a few substances that, if taken enough, will cause you to have many, many problems. Back in the day, a lot of the products containing DXM had higher amounts, but after the Robo-abuse amongst people, there was, obviously, a change in dosage. DXM is often described and closely related to Ketamine and PCP experiences.

That's too bad... maybe if you just didn't think of it of dancing, because it's not dancing, it's a game! Just like you're not really killing people in other types of games! I certainly don't feel like I'm dancing when I play it.

I play any game for more than a few hours and I start to feel like crap and need to find something else to do.I'm the same... I couldn't be hardcore. When you first get sucked in it's just like any other RPG, except your party members are real people. When those people are intelligent and enjoying the game as a game, it's addictive for obvious reasons, isn't it?
Imagine your favourite game, a main character you loved, and a supporting cast that were awesome. In an open environment, Sephiroth can stay your friend, Barry Burton doesn't run off every time he's finished giving a corny line or plot tip, and Ken and Ryu can get together to throw up some real carnage.
A lot of the time, you're right, it's just tedious, and most people who play it are arseholes, so I log because of that. Partly you play to keep up with the people you like, partly because you have an investment in your hero and you want him or her to look good and be heroic, and partly so you can see the content.
I can't take it for very long, though... like you, I feel like crap if I do. That unnamed and uneasy need to occupy myself with something 'worthwhile.'
What is worthwhile, really? The things you enjoy, of course... but it can be like a drug, and your body has other ideas about enjoyment.
A little off topic, but I figured I'd try and expunge what seemed to be genuine bafflement. I probably still haven't, but worth a go. :)

DDR is pretty fun to watch, I think. I had a friend who used to get all into it and would hold onto the rail when he was busting out the fast moves. lol He used to draw quite an audience, too. I, on the other hand, wouldn't be caught dead playing it. I have no specific reason for that, except maybe that I know I would totally suck at it and probably never get any better. I would really like to see someone try to break out DDR moves at a rave or something... "how do you expect me to dance without the arrows?!"
