Because we need some positivity, baby.
I'll name the Scorpions because the younguns don't seem to know of them. Oh, and Whitesnake, for you jerks who don't like them :)

Nice comeback thread, Cyrus.
There's a lesser known band that I'm a huge fan of that go by the name of Pedro The Lion. Such talent, yet so little recognition. That is just how it is sometimes, I suppose.

K-OS is a canadian hip-hop artist that I don't believe many people have heard of, but I like all his songs.
Err, when I think of more I'll post them as well. Most of the people I listen to a good number of people have heard of them and like the music.

K-OS is(was) a Canadian hero! He had at least one song that was in my head for an entire summer.

A hero you say? And what song was it, I probably have it.

Mac McCaughan.
Co-founder of Merge Records (http://www.mergerecords.com/). His two bands are Superchunk and Portastatic. Completely underrated...
Merge Records is responsible for a lot of cool bands, The Magnetic Fields, She & Him (Zooey Deschanel's group), And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, Neutral Milk Hotel...and others. I just love Mac, and everything he touches.

Incidentally, I don't like ANY of those bands. Guess I'm not keen on Mac McCaughan.

It's alright, everyone's got their different tastes, I'm not a fan of The Magnetic Fields, but I know a lot of people that are... In fact, Superchunk took one of their songs and did a cover, and I like the cover much more than the original (the song is 100,000 Fireflies). :)

The Killers
You must be insane. Not to bash The Killers, as I like their music, but come on.
As for me.
Ima Robot - I first heard one of their songs in SSX3 and thought it was decent, but it wasn't until I got their who first album that I realized that they were quite good. They are generally underappreciated.
Canon - Little-known, sort of similar to Porcupine Tree and Radiohead.
Dogs Die In Hot Cars - In my opinion, the "indie" genre (if there really is such a thing) should be more like this. Fun and strange. I can't understand why they weren't huge, it's a shame they split up.
The Vinyl Skyway - "Pop" is a genre that gets a bad rep, pretty much justifiably. These guys are good pop.

He was immensely popular in Canada for a while. His album from like... 4 years ago, maybe? The only song I really remember well is Man I Used to Be.

Yes, VAST is great. The rest I've never heard but I'll have to look them up.

I don't feel as though The Killers are the second coming or anything, but, I've liked alot of their stuff and I feel their value is underrated.
As for MCR, which Fallen added, I love My Chemical Romance, but I wouldn't say they're underrated. They're pretty much everywhere nowadays.

The Killers' first album was one of the only CD's I've ever purchased.
Jenny Was A Friend of Mine should have been one of the singles, seriously.

I wholeheartedly agree.

That's great and all, but not exactly the focus of the thread.

Death Cab for Cutie (they aren't popular enough!!)
Fleet Foxes
The Fratellis
King Black Acid (now defunct)
Puddle of Mudd
Kaki King
Fleet Foxes in particular are the band to look out for in 2008 (their first album has been the highest critically reviewed album of the year)

I concur with Death Cab and The Fratellis. The others I'm not aware of(except for Puddle of Mudd[ew]).

The only reason I threw them in there was because their sales have been declining with each new album.. so... eh. If you like indie rock, by all means BUY the Fleet Foxes debut album and their Sun Giant EP. ****ing amazing music.

Yes. Yes. Yes. Oh god yes.
However, they're a bit more folk-ish and baroque pop than regular indie rock bands. They're from Seattle though, and that's where all the good music comes from anyways.

That's great and all, but not exactly the focus of the thread.
I see mentions of several bands that get plenty of attention, fame, and praise. Seems like maybe the whole thread is a bit off.
Totally expected someone to post about how Moldy Peaches are misunderstood geniuses.
