So I finally got a copy of Jade Empire and have been playing it on my 360. I'm really enjoying the game so far. It feels much larger and open then Star Wars:KotoR and flows much better. The battle system is quite a challenge though and I've died a number of times trying to battle multiple opponents at once.
I'm enjoying the music a lot as well. It's a nice smooth blend of sounds that overlay the background nicely. The Graphics hold up well enought too. I've only started to get into the plot and I don't know much of what's going on just yet but it's interesting.
Anyone else experienced this title before?

yep I got this title back when it was still new for the original xbox. I liked the combat system and the way you can choose your own path. the limited version of it came with an extra downloadable monk like character. it'd be nice if they made a jade empire 2 for the 360 but I doubt that'll happen.

I played the PC special edition and it was actually a good game. Granted I think the main story line was fairly weak compared to KOTOR or Mass Effect and the companions in this game didn't seem too interesting. The Combat worked well for a more action like game. Scenery seemed to be varied and the quests seemed much more appealing than monotonous, which was apparent in Mass Effect.

I got it when it first came out, and I have to say that I was disappointed overall. It was entertaining, but there was a lot of praise out there for its combat system. And it turned out to be pretty clunky. The whole harmonic combo (or whatever they called it) idea might've been fun had there been a decent flow when transitioning between combat styles.
I enjoyed it well enough, don't get me wrong, but I've never gotten over my bitterness about the combat system. I would've enjoyed it sooo much more if it was actually built like an action game's action instead of an RPG that tries to be action.

I always wanted to play it and often see it available for $9.99 at Gamestop. When I eventually get my 360 repaired I might look into it, but if I start buying old games... I'll never stop. I will fall into a black pit of despair and eternal RPGing.
Of course I love KOTOR, so that just intrigues me more.

I don't mind the combat system. Bioware seemed to try and do the same thing with Mass Effect by meshing action and free flowing fighting to their RPGs now. The big issue with the combat mostly lies in the sheer number of enemies that you have to fight off. There have been lots of times where I get boxed in and caught by too many enemies on screen. If that's not the case then they have magic attacks that can't be dodged because they have a homming signal on them. Which is really frustrating when you are forced to fight in close combat.
Overall though the game is really enjoyable. The voice acting is great (as has always been the case in all the Bioware games I've played). I just met the Fox from the Forest and defeated the Mother (butt ugly goblin creature). So I'm not far in but I'm slowly working on it.
I would recommend the game Cyrus. Especially at such a low price it's worth it. One of the best things about it is that there is a system that has a "good and bad" side to it but the game feels a little more grey then KOTOR did. Which makes the game more interesting to me.
