Straight from their own site. It's too bad to hear that EGM will be out of print. I'm going to have to track down a copy of that final issue. Even though I was getting more and more disappointed with their level of quality and professionalism, I'm still sad to see them go.
As for all the firing that occured after the buy out...that's just horrible.

This surely sucks. Maybe I'm old, but I remember the days when you got all of your gaming information from magazines.

Not bad at all. The magazine, although sometimes decent, can be a pile of shitty hypocrites. I would've preferred Gameinfromer to get canned though..

Honestly I believe that print media is a dying breed and its strugling with its last breath of air and its a surprise its still around. Still I have always had an attachment to magazines and newspapers, its nice to read something not on a computer screen and I have always liked gaming magazines because indeed, they remind me of an era when all we had where those magazines which always published complete walkthroughs of games I didnt own at the time.
Nevertheless, as I have been getting EGM occasionally in pdf form in the last two years or so, they have indeed declined and just suck cock of all the major players and it wasnt going anywhere really.
1up is a mess of a page.
My girlfriend got me a subscription to this magazine as a Christmas present. Didn't even get the first issue before I heard this news. What a pain.

So many of the journalists were canned as well.
Now what am I supposed to read in the bathroom?

Screw the magazine, I'm more pissed at the fact that UGO fired like 90% of the 1up staff.

EGM was by far my favorite gaming mag over the last few years. It started to decline a little more when Shoe left, but I still found it interesting for the most part. I remember two years ago when every issue was really worth the money.
My subscription ran out about four months ago, glad I didn't renew. I know they would have reimbursed me, but this way I can pretend to be a very analytical magazine-businessman kind of dude.
I just got a subscription for two years from a third party subscription thingamajig back in September.
So....I doubt I'm getting my 50 bucks back. Freaking gay.

I have to disagree with Shoe being a good EIC or writer for EGM. The magazine's quality dropped quite significantly when he was the EIC. It just stopped being interesting. Plus they seemd to have gone through 2 or 3 redesigns under him for no real reason. Overall it's sad to see the magazine die because I have grown up with it. I just hope that those writers can find new homes elsewhere because it's sad to hear how easily they were displaced.

That's the best thing I've heard. They should also close down joystick.com XD

I was a huge fan of 1up and their content. I always felt like their reviewers at least somewhat stood out in a sea mediocrity.

Same thing happened with me and PSM. The only reason I even got that subscription were for there shitty demo discs.

I never read magazines unless I'm in a waiting room or airport or some other boring place. That sucks about the subscriptions though, they should be obligated to refund people who paid in advance for a service they will no longer be able to receive.
That's why I took the demo disks out of the plastic at Shoprite or walllymart.
