Nick used broadcast some of my favorite shows of all time: Rocko's Modern Life, Angry Beavers, Salute Your Shorts, Hey Arnold!, Ren & Stimpy, etc.

Please tell me someone else remembers how awesome Nick used to be! It's nothing special now, IMO, but it was great back in the day.

I agree, I grew up on Ren and Stimpy. Hard to compare it now but I'm sure it's much lamer. However I do still catch some Fresh Prince and Saved by the Bell reruns on The N once in a while.

Nickelodeon is responsible for some my fondest childhood memories when it comes to television. Shows like Doug, Rocko's Modern Life, Hey Arnold!, The Angry Beavers, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Kablam!, The Adventures of Pete & Pete, Ahh! Real Monsters!, and the magnificent Ren & Stimpy, are all masterworks of child entertainment in my opinion. Kids these days really miss out on what was once so great about Nickelodeon; a real shame indeed.

It's true, Sen. I swear, kids these days all have ADD or something. I mean, The Fairly Odd Parents!? That show is pretty popular with the youngins nowadays. I guess we just got better stuff because we were born in the 80's. :) Gotta keep our generation happy! As for the next generation, eh...

The newer additions to the station that I actually enjoy are the Fairly Oddparents and Invader Zim (no longer running).

I recall really enjoying Doug.

Along with all the ones that The Evil has already named, The Varsh would like to add.........ANIMORPHS!!! Hells yes Animorphs ruled and everyone knows it! The Varsh was all about that show back in the day. As well as the books of course.

A lot of great shows. If I ever catch Rugrats on, I watch it and still find it hilarious because there were so many things I did not catch as a child.

Yea, Nickelodeon rocked. Hey Arnold is a personal favourite. He had a football head way before Stewie did. I was never allowed to watch Rocko's Modern Life or Ren and Stimpy because my Mom thought they were gross, but of course I was always able to find ways to watch them without her knowing.

I don't really know what cartoons kids watch nowadays. My 11 year old sister is obsessed with Hanna Montana and the Suite Life of Zach and Cody which are neither cartoons nor Nickelodeon. Both are pretty annoying though.

Yeah, pretty much sums it up. Nick was a bog part of my formative years. Now it sucks ass.

No one mentioned Danger Mouse and Count Duckula. I remember they also had movies on the weekends. I must be old.

I watched way too much Nickelodeon growing up. And my family didn't even get it until I was, I don't know, maybe 8? And I wouldn't have got to see very much of it if we hadn't gotten free cable.

This.

I liked Angry Beavers but it was not in the same generation of programming as any of this.

I vivdly remember coming home from school and watching Legends of the Hidden Temple; it seemed as if the gauntlet was impossible to complete.

It was good, but "back in the day" Nick doesn't include Angry Beavers or Hey Arnold. Sorry to anyone who was born too late but you missed the boat on being able to claim you grew up on Nick's "oldschool" programming.

I was nuts about Legends of the Hidden Temple and Guts, they were just so ballshit insane. I also barely remember to have a crush on the referee from Global Guts, I remember she had a british accent and drove me insane.

Other than that, Doug was my cup of tea as well and of course, Clarissa Explains it all. Hmmmm kinda funny to remember how cute Sabrina once was before everybody outgrew her and she ended up looking like a tranvestite halfling with no idea how to use make up.

I'll admit that I was probably too old to be watching The Angry Beavers and Hey Arnold! when they first aired, but I did anyway.
