View Full Version : Escaping The Routine

Don't you ever feel like you're stuck in life's monotonous cycle? I do. I feel like once I've accomplished something, it's on to the next goal, the next "big thing" I need to do in my life ... Sometimes I just wish my life were a little more exciting; nonetheless, I do realize my life is what I make it, and "the only fate you have is the fate you make for yourself." - great video game quote. Rambling or not, I just felt the need to say something. And maybe some of you are feeling the same, wondering what, if anything, will come along and pull you out of your routine. Don't get me wrong, I love my life, and I believe I'll accomplish many important things, and hopefully even summon originality and form it into something fiscal, but still, the waiting feels bleak at times. I am glad I have you guys to bore, though, otherwise I'd drive all of my real-life friends even crazier! :P Anyways, thoughts?

How old are you, Atlas? Not trying to knock you, just wondering.

I stop and think about that every once in a while. I usually plan a long goal out in my head in five minutes and get all excited and end up leaving it be after a while. I have just learned things don't happen in the snap of a finger like I want them to sometimes, and I need to be patient and not give up. Baby steps, I suppose.

I don't have a routine, I despise routines.

Sometimes I do get tired of my routine, its a life full of the same things over and over again, wake up, go to work, get stressed, get turned on by the big titted chubby blonde from IP, hit on the paralegal I wanna fuck, curse aloud, get back home, sometimes go to a bar/club and get completely wrecked, return to beginning.
On the other hand, my life is constantly in change, not like every month or so, but every few years, there are drastic changes in my life, I change jobs, change environments, and reboot friends. Eventually I am gonna reach the switch moment, probably next year, when I leave to get my masters.
I guess it hasnt really made me hate my routine because of that change mode and also because its really all part of the plan. Long time ago, probably when I was between 10 and 12 I traced my life plan, it involved being simply a lawyer. Now I might not be happy about this whole career as its boring as fucking shit and stressful as having a possible pregnant girlfriend, but I chose this, so I cant really complain.
On the other hand I always think that there has to be something more to get out of life, but I was never the kind of guy who goes bungee jumping if you know what I mean.

I don't have anything resembling a routine (aside from waking up and going to work every day). I wish I did, though. When your life is anything but normal, you get bored and restless when you have to go back to the daily grind. There has to be a balance, I think.

If life's too boring, kill a hooker.

You're young... make your life so it doesn't have to be boring. And even if you have some sort of monotony in your life, there are ways to break it up. Find free or cheap plays put on by local colleges, go to concerts, make good friends, try something new. It's always worked for me. By the mere nature of my life, it's never really boring but the travel will slow down someday and the best way to break up those in between times has always been free or cheap local events. And sex.

I am. What's the big deal? And cholera, being "young" is one hell of a relative phrase if I've ever heard one. I might be young, but my curiousity regarding the world and the questions I propose within myself are hardly young.
Sorry for the huge fucking picture (and I was only 18 in this one)

Don't let this go to your head, but you remind me a bit of Jude Law.

For some reason people usually tag me with Steve McQueen. Probably because of the jacket I usually wear, though.

The big deal is that you struck me to be around 18, and I would've thought younger if you hadn't mentioned college.

Lol... fuck off, Phakhead. At least I'm not a dead beat lawyer with nothing better to do than to fab off all day to the Food Network.
