With Contra: Rebirth (Wiiware) coming some time in the near future I thought it would be a nice time to bring up the Contra series. It's looking like it will be an awesome entry to the series and it keeps it all alive after the great Contra 4.

What games in the series are you particularly fond of and which ones do you own?

Nice, seems like that particular game isn't as well liked or known as compared to III or Contra. It was actually the first game in the series that I played and mastered. So it holds a pretty special place with me when it comes to the Contra series. It's possibly my favorite as well. I love the final stage a lot on that one and Stage 7.

CONTRA 4 is my current favorite. Contra 3 in a second place, and Contra Shattered Soldier for the PS2 on third.

Great damn games.

Hard Corps would be higher if it wasn't so goddamn brutal.

I kinda hated the top down perspective areas but overall I liked the game a lot. It wasnt the first one i played having played the original for a bit but it was the one I owned so I played it more than the first and the third I have only played on emulator, not that fun.

I also remember that the cover of Super C on NES was at least 4 different types of awesome.

Contra 4 is a love letter to Contra 1 and Super C, mainly. GET IT. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.

I always liked the Contra games but they never could hold my attention that long. I haven't even played Contra 4 yet.

Just started playing Rebirth. Looks and plays just as promising and difficult as Gradius Rebirth >=P. Bad thing is, my skills on contra are rusty as hell so I've been losing more than 20-30 times ^^;. Overall, a fun game.

I've only ever played Contra and Contra 4. I love the original NES game even though I've never been able to beat it without the Konami code. I think I may own it in the box as well. I haven't played much of Contra 4 unfortunately, I just haven't gotten around to it. Plus, it's always in my boyfriend's DS so I don't see much of it. I just remember the dual screen being a tad confusing.

Trillian, IIRC you can actually unlock both Contra and Super C on Contra 4.

Of course, it is VERY hard to do so, but it is possible.

Luisfe, I thought that beating the game on any mode opened Contra and Super C for the NES no matter what the level you do it on (easiest mode included). I've come so close a few times on the normal mode but that 8th level drives me nuts. I really hate that stage.

Yesh! I didn't even know that Rebirth was already out! I've disconnected my Wii because I haven't bothred to play it for months. I must set it up to get this game! Can't wait for it.
