I'm sure it comes as no surprise that development for BioShock 2, the sequel to one of 2007's best releases, is well under way, with a release date set for late this year. I, for one, had a blast with the first game, and eagerly await the arrival of this next chapter. If you have a few minutes, take a look at this in-depth trailer (http://www.gametrailers.com/video/hunting-the-bioshock-2/49252) to get an idea of what's in store for our return to the underwater city of Rapture. Or just continue to read what I've written.
So it's ten years after the events of BioShock, and several towns around the globe have reported kidnappings of young girls. Turns out the abductions are the work of the Big Sister, a Little Sister who's grown up to become the new ruler of Rapture. Once again it falls to us to thwart the villainy of a resident of the sunken settlement, though this time we do so in the shoes of a Big Daddy. The Big Daddy, in fact; the very first one, who served as the prototype for all subsequent Little Sister guardians. Apparently he's still alive.
This isn't the first time we've been given control of a Big Daddy, as you probably remember later segments of the first game where the player had to don one of their hulking scuba suits. Surprisingly, that portion of the game didn't turn out as memorable as it should have been, mostly becasue we weren't given access to cool Big Daddy weaponry. That's not the case this time, though, as we'll be armed with both the rivet gun and the arm drill. Dual-wielding will also be possible, even with plasmids.
Before officially being revealed, there was much speculation over whether or not this game would be a prequel or a sequel to the first. The ambiguity, it seems, comes from the fact that the multiplayer aspect takes place some time before the first game, detailing events that led to the fall of Rapture. It's still unclear what type of modes there will be, especially whether they'll be cooperative or competitive, but some sort of leveling-up system is said to be at the core of experience, where players can upgrade stuff like weapons and plasmids.
So yeah, I'm siked. Anybody else?
