Is this the future of video gaming?

Natal seems like an interesting idea and could go a long way to making games much more interesting in the long run. The worlds that we currently experience will open up even more to us. That said, are we really ready for all that? Is this going to be another Activator? I think the demos were interesting, but I'm a little uninterested in playing a large variety of games with that much control.

I suppose it's a little bit of fear of how it works thus far, but it could turn out to be awesome in the end. We shall see by the time it's released if it has enough steam to carry on as something everyone latches onto.

Thoughts?

The Milo video made me want to cream my pants. All I could think about was how it will reimagine the Sims franchise.

Milo freaked me out. There's no way I'm ever talking to my TV like that. The ball game looked fun, but I don't have enough room in my living room for anything like that. I'd break something.

If Natal is the future of gaming then gaming will soon require a room with padded walls or just purchasing a racket ball court to play lol. Either way I find it very interesting and look forward to seeing how it develops.

Though I am someone who plays video games to relax I think video games would lose alot if in order to play them you always had to jump around and be on your feet and run around a room. I look forward to seeing the evolution and how it all works out down the road. In some cases I can see how if this where to completely take over as the only way to play video games, an entire generation of gamers may eventually no longer be able to play. I know when I was bed ridden once after a car hit me on my bike. I had to stay in bed for 3 months to heal. Video games where the only thing that kept me sane. I would feel bad for future generations if the only thing they could do in a similar situation is watch someone else jump around having fun while they can't play due to injuries or physical inability.

A lot of people aren't going to have enough room to play games like this. And this technology can work well for certain types of games but I do not see it really taking off at all.

If you ask me, this belongs in arcades.

Well new word is that Natal could in fact be an upgrade to the existing 360 hardware and would feature the ability for higher resolutions amoung other things. Natal would be included with the hardware and possibly be the focus.

I don't have a problem with the controller coming out but I will be disappointed if it is released with a new console. I think it would make a lot of existing 360 owners angry that they would have to buy a new console for extra things. Yes there is an argument that people have already had to do so with the PSP/DS iterations and to a lesser extent the Wii, yet I don't see this going over quite as well with the 360 market.

That sounds a little like my favourite Star Trek invention ever, the Holodeck!!

It looks interesting but I really can't see myself getting into it much. I rather not be doing too much moving around while playing a game unless I'm playing DDR.

DDR would totally be worth it. After checking it out, I'd actually consider the purchase.
