Well, who is it?
Mine is Kuja. His tragedy was beautiful, and so was he. Kefka is a close second because of his insane clown nature; there was no other villain quite like him.

Krelian. That dude was troubled. Or was he? Thats the thing about Krelian, as evil as he could be, sometimes, sometimes, you almost get on his side. Its scary.

I liked Edea (FFVIII) in the beginning until the plot twist. Besides her, it's either Kuja (FFIX) or Margulus (XS).
Every boss enemy in MGS3 was awesome. Conceptually and as a battle.

They are not RPG villains. But yeah, I liked many MGS bosses.

Orochi. There's nothing quite like a boss that you have to get drunk in order to hurt at all.
I'm so happy that no one's said "Sephiroth" yet. He's always the one mentioned first, but I think Advent childeren killed his coolness factor. God his dialog was horrible. Hell, all the dialog was horrible in that movie. Made me die a little inside.
Kuja is also my favorite FF villan (I luv trannies! :D ).
Bowser (from the paper marios) is friggin adorable.

Yeah, Sephiroth pretty much sucked in many ways upon the relsease of Advent Children -- maybe even before that. I mean I still like him and find certain elements about him cool, but nowhere near other villains; Sephiroth is really bland in comparison.

Yes; he is.

Silly me, I forgot to mention Ghaleon. He was the Sephiroth of the Lunar SSS and EB. Except a lot more likeable. And the most awesome gay lisp :D
He could probably beat the crap outta Sephypoo anyday.
I always liked Melfice from Grandia II for some reason.
Best antagonist ever, though? Albedo from Xenosaga.

I would say Id and Grahf from xenogears. then again I would also say pretty much all the villains in Xenogears where pretty amazing. but Id and Grahf where at the top.

That's a pretty good choice.

Yeah, besides Krelian, Delita is way up there too.
More because he actually wins. Well so does Krelian, somewhat.

Ah, but can he really be considered a villain? I would think that he serves very well as a mirror for Ramza, hell, Durai mentions him exactly as that, the public face and the recognized hero of the Lion war, and he is undoubtedly a magnificent bastard.
If anything, I would rate Dycedarg, Larg and... Uh, I forget whoever else was with the Lucavi as the villains.

I think he is villainous. He commits amoral acts and some are in indirect detriment of the hero, and some in direct detriment. Also he plots, manipulates and distorts the truth and everything around him. Or maybe he is sort of an anti-villain.

On the other hand, that seems to be somewhat of a theme with the Matsuno games, Ashley, Delita, Vayne/Cid/Venat, etcetera.
What is certain is that Delita is a goddamn magnificent bastard.
he is undoubtedly a magnificent bastard.
I've never heard Delita described this way. It's actually a perfect way to view Delita, I guess. Well done.

Ultros.
Haha! Up there with Chupon. Stupid sneeze.
I'm gonna give a shout-out to Myria, from Breath of Fire III, because she embodies the tyranny described in the following quotation.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
