At 3:30PM MST on Saturday I left Red Deer Alberta, arriving at Holland Landing Ontario, yesterday at 2:00 PM EST. Here's a link (http://www.mapquest.com/maps?1c=Red+Deer&1s=AB&1y=CA&1l=52.262299&1g=-113.817429&1v=CITY&2c=Medicine+Hat&2s=AB&2y=CA&2l=50.04105&2g=-110.678093&2v=CITY#a/maps/l:::Red+Deer:AB::CA:52.262299:-113.817429:city:/l:::Medicine+Hat:AB::CA:50.04105:-110.678093:city:/l:::Havre:MT::US:48.549999:-109.683296:city:Hill+County/l:::Williston:ND::US:48.146023:-103.628349:city:Williams+County/l:::Minot:ND::US:48.232498:-101.295799:city:Ward+County/l:::Grand+Forks:ND::US:47.925301:-97.032501:city:Grand+Forks+County/l:::Duluth:MN::US:46.783298:-92.1064:city:Saint+Louis+County/l:::Munising:MI::US:46.411098:-86.647797:city:Alger+County/l:::Sault+Ste+Marie:ON::CA:46.51828:-84.3479:city:Algoma/l:::Holland+Landing:ON::CA:44.10463:-79.49234:city:York/m::2:::0::/io:1:::::f:EN:M:/e) of the route we took.

We didn't originally plan on driving through the states, so I didn't manage to get in contact with anyone to meetup. However, I'm in Holland Landing for a few days, so if anyone wants to meetup in the Toronto area, speak up! I'll also be making a short stop in Montreal, before I continue on my trek to the New Brunswick. So a meetup can be arranged there, as well.

Yeah that's a doozy of a drive. I lived my whole life in western Canada so I know what it's all about.

When all is said and done, I'll be in New Brunswick. However, since I'm stopping in Ontario for a few days... if I were to consider that extra distance, though, it would be the longest drive of my life, which is currently this (http://www.mapquest.com/maps?1c=New+Denmark&1s=NB&1y=CA&1l=46.997131&1g=-67.599121&1v=CITY&2c=Sault+Ste+Marie&2s=ON&2y=CA&2l=46.51828&2g=-84.3479&2v=CITY#a/maps/l:::New+Denmark:NB::CA:46.997131:-67.599121:city:/l:::Sault+Ste+Marie:ON::CA:46.51828:-84.3479:city:/l:::Thunder+Bay:ON::CA:48.381699:-89.245483:city:Thunder+Bay/l:::Wainwright:AB::CA:52.84338:-110.85202:city:Alberta/m::2:::0::/io:1:::::f:EN:M:/e). Very, VERY exhausting.

What would be the estimated gas cost of a trip like that? Just wondering...

I didn't drive but i was in the car, when my family drove all the way from England to Portugal. It was three days straight. My dad din't want to pay for hotels so both my mom and dad took turns in driving/sleeping.

They sure are slowass drivers then. Takes me 10 hours to drive from Amsterdam all the way to Nice, most southern part of France.

Erm probably... I think we did stop to sleep on night, but I'm pretty sure it was days. But not three whole days. we left Suffolk at like 6PM and arrived at around 10 am at Algarve(south of portugal).

Yeah, that's a pretty long drive. However, I can't feel too bad for you since it was probably nice and cool. I once drove from Cincinnati, Ohio all the way back to Utah in the middle of summer with no A/C. All the while the cicadas were out making tons of noise and I had no radio.

That was hell......

I've ridden up and down the eastern seaboard from Atlanta to Boston several times. I also did Atlanta to NYC on a bus with band.

Chicago to Boston on Greyhound was the worst though... 20 hours of pure hell.

That's because you respect speed limits as much as chastity belts, Fabs :P

Gosh Tom, that sounds bleh. I might have died! The longest drive I've ever partaken in was Sacramento to L.A. Straight through with limited bathroom breaks. We ended going to Disneyland so that made up for the long ass drive.

4 hours is long? I live 5 hours from home and make the trip every other week.

Longest drive for me was 24 hours: St. Louis, MO to Key West, FL. I will never do that again.

Edit: Hah, I only saw the first segment. Yep, 38 hours sounds near suicidal.

When I was a kid we used to take road trips all the time. We did one when I was 11, me, my aunt, uncle, and grandma, in Pontiac T1000 (basically, pontiac's answer to the Chevette) drove all the way from here (south carolina) to California and back. That trip was hell. We drove up to the Dakotas once, but we were in a Volkswagon hippy van that time, and we drove down to Florida several times.

Tom is very sensitive. We have to humor him in his times of need. :p

460 dollars.

Yeah. I've done that trip (or rather, from Toronto to Day Tona). We took extra long to make all the interesting stops, however.

The first day was horribly hot. Wasn't too bad for the rest of the trip till well after we got back into Canada, luckily, we arrived shortly after the heatwave started.

Damn, Tom. Nice drive.

Longest drive I have drove myself was only like a four hour drive up to the University of Arkansas. I have been in longer car drives before, but I really do not add those considering I did not do the driving. I love driving, however. As long as I have plenty of music, cigarettes, and energy drinks, I will be set.

But, what's constitutes a heat wave in northern Montana? 70? F with next to no humidity? :p

It was about 32 Celcius when we left Red Deer. That's about 90 Farenheit. It didn't really cool off till we hit Havre. No humidity, though, of course.

When I read the title of this thread, I immediately thought about golf. How disappointing.

I was considering saying something along the lines of "No, not down the fairway." or whatever. But then I thought to myself. "Who on AllRPG would know what a fairway is?"

Yeah, even dry 32? C is pretty dang hot in a car.
