Mac sucks. Overpriced, underpowered.

Dont know yet, my next laptop will be a mac though, in about 2 to 3 years.

Both have their pros and cons. At this point in time I prefer Windows 7 over OSX, and while Mac hardware is nice, it is, like Hyde pointed out, overpriced.

I might go back to Windows with some of the features of Windows 7.
But at the same time, I take my Mac everywhere and like knowing that there is a Mac store in most major cities worldwide to get repairs done simply.

PC blows :p
Nah. It's just not as reliable. Every time I hear about someone's hard drive crashing at school, it's almost always when they're halfway through their finals, and I have yet to hear of it happen on a Mac.
Yay Mac! XD

But they look so pretty!
Macs for everyday stuff, PC's for heavy lifting.
Also, 5 year old Macs own 5 year old PCs. They age better, I guess, at least on the "I am waiting 5 years for this to boot" scale.

This is true. But most Mac-users get by just fine without an anti-virus program. I would never own and operate a Windows machine without an anti-virus.

But a hard drive crash isn't due to software, which is the only difference between a MAC and PC now. Maybe they meant a BSOD, but again, Macs can crash just as often as a PC.
Mac IS a PC now, and has been since they switched to Intel CPUs and chipsets. It's just a different OS, which wouldn't affect a hard drive. Macs can have bad drives, bad GPUs, bad RAM, and can even have viruses and other vulnerabilities, despite what the commercials want you to believe.
Ya they difference in actual hardware is minimal. They may have different LCD screens, cameras, and keyboards than on other laptops, but that kind of difference is present between different types of PCs.
My friend bought one of those Mac Book Airs for 1100 dollars new two years ago. The thing didn't even have DVD drive in it and only had one (maybe two) USB slot(s). The processor, RAM, and harddrive were shit too. All you got was a flimsy, slow, and largely useless computer that looked cool but broke and couldn't be fixed properly.

The whole point of the Macbook Air was to be extremely portable... even Windows laptops with that purpose don't have DVD drives.
Don't get me wrong, I hate the thing as much as I hate the iPad, but I just thought I'd throw that out there.

Yea I guess the kicker for me was the price and the fact it was the least durable thing I've ever seen. I have a lil LG laptop that has a 14inch screen and small frame and I'd say its extremely portable.
I'm such a h8er :)

If you want to be technical Macs have always been "PCs", afterall weren't they considered one of the first personal computers? I know these days we don't look at it that way, but still. For some reason that bothers me.
I have this bitch in one of my classes that won't stop calling them Personal PC's. I mean, that just sounds stupid. Personal Personal Computers.
She also smells rank all the time and we have assigned seating.
So...yeah.

That's like saying "personal PIN" >_>
I have a Macbook Pro. I love it, its easy to understand once you get used to it, plus the whole virus protection on it is amazing. I have lost too many PC's and voluble information in the past too many times. I am not a big PC gamer so really I am not affected by its lack of gaming issue. I like it. I think it was worth the money.

Okay, seriously...I don't get this....
Mac's have amazing virus protection but PCs don't?
I've NEVER had a Virus problem.
Take into mind as I say that: I run no antivirus software, I don't even run Windows Firewall. And in all this time....no viruses, no computers lost to viruses, etc.
You know why? I use a little common sense about what I open and what I download at all.
People need to depend less on their software and more on their common sense.

This. I don't have any problems with viruses, you just have to not be an idiot when on the internet. The only reason Macs are even considered more secure is just because they aren't targeted due to a much smaller user base. Security by obscurity is not really security at all.
perhaps yes. but I have lost everything twice now. all my pictures and everything else, I dont download anything, and the only sites I really go to is google (for email), here, wikipedia, facebook, myspace, USAA, and the occasional guitar tab site. sometimes all it takes is opening an email. which could be hacked from a loved one or friend. if I get a virus from that on my mac then I will switch back over to PC just for saving some cash and invest in a external hard drive to save and store all my information (well actually I might just go buy one for the hell of it anyway soon), but I have had no problems with the Macbook. None. I am not defending Mac, because I have one. there are a lot of things I dislike about it, such as if the battery shits out I have to send it in to get it replaced, or if software is not compatible with it, the system will lock down to prevent further issues, to name a few. but the fact of the matter is, I do like the computer itself. and for what I actually use it for, it is perfect for me. if I was big on games for my notebook, then I would say screw this thing and go for an alienware or something else.

You either have to run something or have an unpatched machine, that's all there is to it. Also, due to the short lifespan of most harddrives you should be backing up your data regardless, both on site and off site if you really want to be safe.

Considering they're the same inside these debates seem rather silly.
Honestly, they're built better than any other prebuilt such as Dell, HP, Gateway, etc. On the other hand, I can build a better computer than an Apple. And it will work with a lot more software and games while costing less.
Granted, people aren't writing a lot of viruses for them. There's not much of a point. Not much damage to do. However, it doesn't take much to keep from getting a virus on a PC.
So, a lot of people tend to buy Apples because they're stupid, are more concerned about form than function, or can't be bothered to learn how to use a computer. Then there's a small percentage that actually buys them because it's a good piece of hardware.
I must admit that I'm disappointed in what Apple has become. Most of their supporters are consumer whores. They no longer have anything original. Their hardware used to be unique as did the O/S. Now, all they really make is a GUI.

I have a Mac desktop and a hp laptop and I much prefer my mac. Plus considering the industry I plan on going into I really need to get familiar with the way the mac works, so it's crucial that I have one. Mac for work and PC for play.

Nice to see you're part of the small percentage that actually buys it for the fact it's a good computer. So, what industry are you going into to?
