According to this story, most of us have. I'm pretty sure I've spent a lot probably in the 15000-20000 dollar mark if I can remember correctly. Maybe more then that. I know for sure that when it's all said and done it will likely be over 30,000 though. How about everyone else?

Honestly, I do not know to tell you the truth. I do not think I will or ever reach that high of a number when it comes to games. I am sure if I really dug deep into how many games I have bought over the past several years as a gamer, I am sure that it is quite a lot and more than I had ever expected. As I was growing up, though, I was lucky and received games as presents, so I do not think I can really factor those games.

I have a little over 300 games total, some bought for under $3 and some $70. Let's say it averages to around $30 (or less, I tend to buy games after they've dropped in price; or used), so that's $9000. And, calculating the price, roughly, of the consoles I've purchased (disregarding gifts), it's about $1400. So a nice guess would be $10,400 total. If I paid full price for everything, I might be close to $20,000. I wouldn't be too surprised if $30,000 is normal for the average gamer.

Doubtful for me... The only systems I bought brand new were my N64 and my Wii. I have maybe 10 games for my N64 and probably 8-10 for my Wii... All other systems I have were either "hand-me-downs" or presents. My old Gameboy was a gift, and my PS1 was a gift a couple of years ago from my brother...the only other system I've owned is a SNES and that was the "hand-me-down" from my oldest brother. All of the games I had for Gameboy could be counted on one hand (my brother was the one that threw his money away on those games, and then I'd just borrow his games)... I have four PS1 games (FFVIII, FFIX, FF...something (one of those with the two classic games on it...or something), and Worms World Party)...And I have like 8-10 SNES games... I think I bought ONE of them, and then my brother's friend borrowed it and his fat aunt stepped on it and broke it. I'd actually be surprised if I've spent $3,000 on gaming stuff in my lifetime...

I started spending until the 32-64bit generation. Up to 2002 I had spent around 1000 flat on my ps2 which i bought in 2001, so thats 6 years plus of games, probably i would hit the 5000 mark.

I dont think i would reach over 15000 worth of games. Doubtful.

If you add all the games my husband had before we got married (and he's been gaming since the NES days, as well as his Commodore 64), all the consoles we buy, all the games we have now, both for PC and consoles for the kiddies, yeah, I'm sure our price is pretty far up there. Unless the actual consoles don't count in the price, then I guess it wouldn't be so high. We are buying games for 5 in my household! :)
