Has anyone else seen the previews for this new show on NBC?
They take idiot teens who say they want babies, and put them in a house and give them some babies to take care of. Now the premise might be good, what better way to prove to teens that they aren't ready for parenthood than a trial by fire like this.
However, what I really want to know is what kind of idiot parents just "loan" their kids out for an experiment like this? Are they that desperate for fame and money that they are now essentially pimping their own babies out, just for a shot at being famous? I know that the parents are probably on set, as well as numerous experts, but this just seems really low to me.

I'm not interested. The people that shouldn't be breeding are not going to be on that show. It has no relevance.

You're getting paid to have someone else babysit your kid for x amount of time. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal.

I would so do this if I had a kid.

Not really. I'm not saying they are giving their kids over to hellbound maniacs, but you should really take extreme ownership of your children.
This is how father/mother wounds are formed, Liz. :p
Anyways, sounds like a pretty cool show. Although, it just doesn't seem like a realistic standard because the kids don't actually belong to them, therefore, it would water down the teens' motivation to actually make any sort of significant effort... so they're screwed, really.

I think anything that makes kids realize that parenting isn't all kicks and giggles is a good thing, and I'm sure there are plenty of folks there to make sure things are safe.
It's the whole renting out your own kids thing that I don't like.

Pretty much. They'd probably end up bad if they belong to the kind of parents who'd do that, anyways. :P

Yeah, just look at the Spears'. Their mama pimped them out pretty young, and now they're both a red hot mess.

Have not heard a thing about it. Does not sound interesting at all. I would find it really hard to have a teenager watch over my kids, even if it is a family member. I would really have to know and trust a kid to do something like that.

I actually watched this show last night. One thing of note is that there was a nanny on scene at all times, she wasn't allowed to intervene unless the child was in immediate danger though. Also, the parents were in a house in the same neighborhood, watching what was going on on video, and could go in any time they wanted.
I think maybe a few of the kids learned it wasn't as easy as they thought it would be. One girl in particular was a major bitch though. She kept losing patience when "her" baby wouldn't eat, and said "**** it then, starve", and the mom showed up and chewed her ass out, so she refused to have anything to do with the kid the rest of the time, her boyfriend, who never wanted to be there, ended up doing it all.
Honestly, if they wanted to make it truly real, instead of setting these kids up in big nice shiny new houses, they would have set them up in little one bedroom apartments or trailers, cause that's where kids that age with no parental help would have ended up.
