Poetry is an interest of mine. Novel analysis is another. However, recently I took up guns. My next gun purchase will be the M1A1 Scout. With this I will learn to hunt. I'm hoping to get stationed in Norway. Good hunting over in those parts. Why hunting? Well, a scene out of War and Peace inspired me, actually. Tolstoy's portrayal of it is what spurred my fascination. Chess is another hobby I enjoy, but good chess players are hard to find. Who knows, maybe hunting will satiate my desire for exploration. I'll even take a friend and make an adventure out of it; maybe I'll even get a short story from the whole thing. As a sidenote, I plan on eating whatever I kill. I do believe that is ethical. Enough about me, what about you?

Cooking. Just yesterday I made dinner for two friends and they greatly enjoyed it and asked me how did I learn how to cook and I replied that I just kinda went with it.

I think thats why I like those newer cooking shows from aleatory/improvisational cooks like Jamie Oliver and Nigella Lawson because I dont watch their cooking to actually recreate their recipe but take tips. Alton Brown also helped with Good Eats but my cable company apparently cancelled their contract with Food Network so I havent been keeping up for over a year.

So yeah, I enjoy cooking and coming up with new dishes. I get an idea about something to make and hit the supermarket. I dont do anything special but nice dishes which taste good and get me fed over the weekend. Also I am not an organic cook though, like for instance my mashed potatoes is made from Dehydrated packages but its due mostly to the fact that I really dont have the time, resources or space in my apartment to make mashed potatoes. However, this doesnt mean you cant make a great batch with it, you just gotta go a bit more than adding milk and margarine, I also use water, salt, pepper and sour cream, then of course its topped with cream cheese and bacon bits. I guess I am sort of more like that blonde barbie whore from Semi Homemade Cooking or whatever.

I could go for days talking about cooking so I am gonna leave it there, cooking is possibly my biggest hobby.

Snowboarding, running, video games. I really have not grown up much.

This is of course assuming that I have spare time to enjoy them, but when I do have a small nugget of free time that I'm not spending sleeping or getting ahead on school work, I like... playing piano, beading jewelry, water aerobics, softball... I recently discovered hiking, and I wish more of my friends were into it, because I'd go more often. I like hiking my thesis field area the most, climbing all over gigantic granitoid plutons.
Nerdgasm.

I'm going to be spending all my spare time this winter hitting the gym and getting into a regular pattern of exercise so I can spend more time in my field area. Higher elevation AND climbing plutons? Yeah, I'm going to need to be in good shape for the summer (I'll probably be doing field research every other weekend).

Disc golf is my thing, but my other hobbies are chess and guitar, both of which I have an intermediate understanding.

Every now and then I'll pop in a video game, but mostly old, outdated stuff.

Your post made me think of a picture I took a few years ago in Fresno...
