Holy fuck, man!

I cant believe i missed this during TGS. As always, Atlus comes from somewhere showing some shit that makes me feel glad to be a gamer. I havent been this excited since they announced Persona 3.

This game looks totally insane, sometimes i question the sanity of the people in Atlus, I mean, I havent been freaked out by sheep until I saw this goddamn thing.

We still dont have a date for a western release, or at least my 5 minutes wikipedia research showed that we dont, but I am so gonna keep track of this thing as it develops.

Also, jesus does Catherine has a bodacious rack or what?

Yeah it looks sultry sure, but most of the appeal is that here we have Atlus, probably the most twisted minds behind video games after the Silent Hill teams, and they are given a green light to basically create nightmares, the possibilities of this are impressive.

It seems like a really unique game for sure. I think it's interesting that there are 2 different girls with the same name (Katherine and Catherine) and how that plays into the plot. Yeah it's obvious what Altus is aiming for with the game but it also has an adult story that could be really interesting. They marketing for the game is getting a pretty big push in Japan as it would seem.

Thats one of the first things i noticed, how both the girls are naked K/Catherine. It intigues me how they are going to put twhy does hat into play. Moreso since both girls look so different from one another, whats the connection? How both girls are going to become one? This is the type of things that keep me wanting me to play it.

Also, why does Vincent looks like Spike from Cowboy Bebop?

From a guy who cares little for anime or dating games, I have to say, Catherine itself is pretty fun and interesting. Story is nice, the puzzle/Nightmare games are real head scratchers. Think of a mix between Q*Bert and Intelligent Qube. Yea, there's a "dating" game in there. The hero, Vincent, is saddled with the burden of being torn between two insanely hot women. First World Problems, right?

It came off to me as an enjoyable story told through great cutscenes and in game FMVs but the gameplay is way too, i dont want to say similar or boring as it gets challenging even at starting levers, but maybe convoluted and displeasing.

At some point it dawned to me that I would much rather watch it as an anime than play it, and thats when it died.

I really enjoyed the demo, I thought the game play was very intense.

I'm waiting for my copy to arrive from Amazon.

I want to buy it. My wife wants me to buy it... But it'd be somewhat weird playing it in front of her.....>_>

Haha, I expect full disclosure of what occurs if this happens.

I know nothing about this game. But I just re-watched the video linked in the first post and now I am TOTALLY IN. I will buy this soon.

In fact, I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy anything by Atlus just to support the company. To be completely honest, I can't think of a game from them that I didn't really like.

Like I'm going to demo your bumhole, right!? Ha!

Is the demo on PSN or some such thing? I am ignorant. I could probably just read the first post in this thread.

It's a good game to sit down with a drink to. Hell, just being in the bar in the game, picking jukebox tunes makes me want to make a cocktail.

I'm about 4 hours in and so far I like the game. The story is keeping me interested, the puzzler game play is fun and frantic and, for the most part, the right degree of challenging.

My only complaint so far is that the controls could/should be a lot tighter. I actually feel like the side game Rapunzel has tighter controls than the actual main game. That's never a good sign.

I heard great things about this game since I decided to look into it a bit. My favorite things about Atlus published games tend to be the story, so I may buy this just to support it a bit.

At stage 7-2 right now and shit be getting insanely difficult (sometimes). Oddly enough, I think most boss battles boast some of the easier stages in the games. Usually stage 2 or 3 of any world or just God damn... mean.

The story at first pulled me in but now its pissing me off. I'm trying to do everything possible to break up with Catherine during the social parts of the game(Don't txt me, cant see you tonight, I'm busy), however no matter what I do she always wakes up in bed beside me. It rather shatters the illusion of choice. I'm aware that Im following a very tight woven(?) story that must play out in limit direction of ways, but it still annoys me that Vincent is doing the opposite everynight regardless of how I'm telling him to behave. :P

See I actually found the level 7's to pretty easy compared to the rest of the game. Playing on normal, and making very liberal use of the undo button, I was able to perfect all of the level 7 stages on the first try.

I think the reason why is because all the dark blocks in level 7 make it very hit or miss, as to whether or not you're moving up the tower correctly. If you're not doing it right you'll know pretty quickly. The other levels, on the other hand, let you got a LOT longer before you would figure out that you were making a mistake. I think it was level 4 or something, where you had just a wall of blocks that was super high... That level kicked my ass. I literally died 30-40+ times.

That being said if you were playing on hard, without the undo button, I think level 7 would be brutally hard.

Anyway love the game. I'm a big fan of Atlus as a company, but their games are often very hit or miss with me. I loved Persona 3, but got tired of P4 about half way through. Catherine is a major HIT for me though. I love the puzzle platforming... even if it has had me close to rocketing a controller through the wall a few times. Great game all around.
