Here's an excerpt from a chapter in my book. Let me know what you think of it. This is only a first draft...

Lauren props herself on her elbows as her vision begins to clear. Blinking rapidly her eyes focus on the gruesome scene before her. She sees a girl in a ponytail bent over Kathy. From the angle she is at, it looks as if the girl is blowing raspberries on her stomach, but the sound is not right. Lauren get up to her knees and sees something see wish she hadn’t. Kathy’s stomach area is torn open completely exposing the remains of internal organs.
Kathy’s screams have turned into blood spurting whimpers of protest but even those are dying out. Lauren lets out a yelp, but instantly throws a hand over her mouth to stifle the sound. But it is in vain. The girl that was once athletic hopeful Stacy Miller jolts up and faces her. Her once green eyes now dull grey stare directly at the stunned nurse. Stacy’s facial expression is a blank slate, with only the blood running down her entire face and flowing onto her legs giving it any character. In her hand she holds what looks to be Kathy’s small intestine. Stacy’s head twitches violently, yet keeps her gaze on Lauren—who seems to have regained her voice for she starts screaming at the top of her lungs.
Lauren scrambles to her feet, her shoes slipping a few times in the blood by the door twice before they find purchase. Stacy lets lose another yell before hopping to her feet, an action which produces a sharp cracking sound as the bones in her decrepit leg gave way from the impact. She doesn’t seem to notice as she shambles in Lauren direction. Lauren stumbles out into the hallway, nearly falls, and slams hard into the glass window. The searing pain in her left shoulder tells her that she dislocated it. She moves her other hand up and feels a sharp object poking at the skin where her shoulder was supposed to be.
As she begins to wonder whether or not she should try to pop it back in place without anesthesia, she is approached by the more immediate threat. The blood drenched runner comes hopping out of the room, pulling her useless leg after her, arms outstretched. The nurse finds her courage once more and runs as fast as she can back to the front desk, grasping her left arm for support.
Ignoring the excruciating pain coursing through her shoulder she busts through the half open door leading to the main hall, with heavy sobs escaping her mouth as she goes. She makes it to the main desk, and James is standing beside it with his head down in his chest. She runs over to him. Tears are streaming down her face by this point with the knowledge that her friend and mentor now lay dead from the psychopath bearing down on her.
“James! Help me! Stacy…she…she killed Kathy, and she’s coming this way!” She yells at the shorter man in front of her.
At first she thinks he fell asleep on his feet, but then there’s movement as he reaches his arms up and plops them on her shoulders, causing her to grimace in pain.
“Wha…what are you doing, James?”
James raises his head and to Lauren’s dismay he has the same dull eyes, gray tinted skin, and expressionless look. Lauren tries to pull away but the grip he has on her becomes tighter. Her struggling takes the two to the ground and she lands on her back hard causing white-hot pain to shoot out from her shoulder area. To her horror she realizes she can no longer move the arm at all.
James descends upon her and she places her hand on his chin and tries to push him off of her. He pushes back harder further increasing the pressure on her damaged arm. Lauren grits her teeth and redoubles her efforts, managing to stay conscious through the agony on adrenaline alone. James then opens his mouth wide and Lauren’s fingers slip inside his mouth. He slams his jaw shut and Lauren screams as his teeth grind their way through the meat and bones of her fingers. She watches as he swallows, large lumps slide down his throat. She brings her fingerless, bloodied stump of a hand up to her face and simply stares at them wide-eyed as James descends on the side of her neck. The two look like two lovers as he burrows his mouth in the crook of her neck while she paws at the side of his face, leaving streaks of crimson alongside his head.
Stacey limps her way to the scene, growling and looking antsy. She sees her prey and James, and then disregards the two and transfixes her gaze at the gathering crowd outside. James—having had his fill of the tasty nurse—jumps up and runs after her outside, slamming open the doors.
Moments later, Lauren sits up and her head lolls to one side further opening the gaping hole in the side of her neck. Her left arm hangs loosely at her side with bone poking through the skin from the confrontation. But she didn’t feel it. She no longer cared about her arm, the missing fingers on her other hand, the death of one of her close friends, or about being on time to work tomorrow.
All that matters is the hunger.
