View Full Version : Is it racist if you don't typically find people from a certain race attractive?
For instance, I don't typically find Latina women attractive, or Black women, or Asians, or Indian.
Now that I think about it, I only typically like white women. So, does that make me a racist?
Oh, and there are exceptions, of course. Salma Hayek, Catherine Zeta Jones, Shakira, Beyonce, Gabrielle Union, Halle Berry, etc.
And I've dated girls from all the aforementioned races. I just prefer white women. Now, those women could be from America, Europe, the Netherlands, etc, but for the most part, I only typically like those.
What do you think?
Oh, and I will say that I have no problem with anyone from those races and that it's not a personality or behavioral thing, just a visual preference. Like, how I prefer lighter skinned girls as opposed to tanned.

No, not racist. Just preference.
I already knew the answer, of course, just wanted to make an interesting topic.
It was talked about on another board.
Shut up, whitey.

I should say Paleface since I'm part Native American

No, but I think it might be if you just decide you don't find people of a certain race attractive beforehand. By this I mean, even though you could be attracted to people of a certain race, seeing their race as a draw-back might be racist.
Because I am gay, there are also certain traits in men that I find more attractive than others, of course everyone has their type. But if for example I state that I am generally not sexually attracted more flamboyant men, even though I would happily have friendships with one, some people usually accuse me of being "self hating". It's something I don't agree with, because first of all I don't believe that flamboyance is the norm for homosexuals, nor is hyper-masculinity, or "straight acting" (a label which I really hate, because the only way you can "act straight" is by having heterosexual sex). So I don't automatically hate myself for being gay if I dislike flamboyance in a significant other, because being gay is not defined by being flamboyant.

Seems like I'm mostly attractive to people outside of my races. I suppose it's a contrast of color sorta thing since I have an olive skin tone.

I am attracted to girls regardless of their race.
But you get me a nice light brown black haired beauty with big tits and I'll be set like a hound.

I really like Indigo's post.
I'm pretty much attracted to all women except for Indian women, which I think puts me in a different place. That definitely sounds more racist than "I prefer white women". I don't know why, I'm just not attracted to them.

I know it's totally "different strokes for different folks..." But some Indian ladies are super lovely...

As for preferences in general with regards to race- I tend to be most attracted to my tall pasty white boys...but I've been known to find some Asian and Black guys super hot...
So I guess it all depends...and there are even some hot Indian dudes... :)

I really like Indigo's post.
Thanks.
And because I didn't say anything about my personal attraction to race here goes:
My pre-defined type is a little specific in terms of physical appearance, and because of other general genetic reasons that have nothing to do with someone's skin tone, I usually go for either Caucasian, Latino maybe Indian, but I have a stupid preference towards mixed race people, any mix. My favourite mix is probably Caucasian and Indian.

EB: Of course there are going to be exceptions. If you post pics of the HOTTEST INDIAN WOMEN WHO HAVE EVER EXISTED I am obviously going to find them attractive. Silly bear! I was speaking more like the average Sue who goes to the laundromat.

Ah, gotcha.
I once worked with a guy named Patrick who was married to a very lovely Indian woman...she was definitely an "Average Sue." :p Granted, she wasn't as beautiful as the two ladies I posted up there, but...you know. :)

Salma Hayek is Latina, but also Arab/white (just like you can be black or Asian and also Latina). Catherine Zeta Jones is about as white as you can get- she's Welsh (well, an Irish mother, but you get the gist). Just an FYI.
I am most attracted to stereotypical Jewish guys and Latino men of any race- though I seemed most attracted to Lebanese-Mexican men in Mexico City. I don't think it's racist until you turn it into a "all %race do %thing and I find it cute/hot/whatever"- ie. a lot of Asian fetishists.
Yes, EA filled me in on that. ;) Not sure why I thought she was Latina.

She's "black Irish" which is pale skin but dark features otherwise. It comes across as ethnically ambiguous.

Once I said that I don't really find myself attracted to white people and a girl had overheard me say that and got on my ass about being a racist.
I didn't try to defend myself, I just brought her down with me because I pointed out that all she will date is black guys.
