Well this seems like it should be in this forum, if I do say so.
Have any of you tried getting into cosplay at all? Were you a Wookie? A cyber punk anime character with out of control hair? Caught in your Halo armour?
I'm taking a pretty big leap here and guessing that most of our members haven't tried out cosplay. So perhaps it's better to ask the question of what cosplayers have made you impressed? Maybe you can share a story or pictures of people you have seen in cosplay (on the internet or in person).
I know that I saw a Link cosplayer once that was quite impressive. This was maybe back in 2005 now at a small anime convention at a University. The guy was wearing the classic tunic and modeled himself after Link in Orcarina of Time. The shield was made of real wood and the details were fantastic. The sword was also made of wood, but wasn't quite as cool. I'm not a big cosplay fan but even I was impressed at the time he put into making his costume and accessories. Sorry, I don't have a picture of him though.
The extent of mine would be a bitchin' Sub-Zero costume for Halloween when I was 8.
Anyway, this Auron is picture perfect:

The idea of doing cosplay has always kinda weirded me out. I had a friend in college who was really into it, did the whole convention thing and all that. I saw quite a few of her pictures from them and generally they were just weird :p
I did, however, see a pretty decent cosplay of A.B.A. from Guilty Gear.
The only real interest I have in it is when really hot girls dress up as really hot characters.
Though, I do kind of want Akihiko's outfit from Persona 3.

Its quite insane, sometimes they look even hotter than the character. I saw this one of Ivy from Soul Calibur and that girl had the juciest thighs I have ever seen, they were just perfect. And her face was amazing. It was like Ivy coming to life but with normal attractive boobs, she resembled SC1 Ivy not uber boob SC2 and 3 Ivy.
Also that chick who did Rikku was way too hot. Well actually, most times Rikku is quite a hit, even when that asian chick who did Metroid.
I was also in love with the girl who did Tifa a few years back. It was amazing, and it was brawler Tifa not big tits Tifa although one girl did big tits Tifa and looked awesome too.

Yeeeeaaah boiii.
I've been to Fan Expo in Toronto, huge convention concerning anime, video games, sci-fi, fantasy... I didn't dress up, though all my friends did. I was working on a Ness costume which I think would have been rad as hell (I really look like him, a lot (fat round face and all)), but I couldn't bring myself to do it.
I do find cosplay interesting to observe. Here in Montreal we have a few conventions. Otakuthon or some such thing is happening really soon and I might swing by just to people watch, depending on whether or not my nerdy friends are available.

I've wanted to cosplay more. So far I've cosplayed as Rorschach and V (neither being anime characters).
I've wanted to do a Kuja or Vinny Valentine cosplay for some time.
I want to be Lord Darcia from Wolf's Rain... but I'm too lazy.

Real cosplay? Nah, just the odd crappy halloween costume. I was Cloud Strife one year and it was pretty terrible though (I need to remember to burn the evidence of that one).
I may go to Anime Boston with some friends next year even though I haven't really kept up with any anime lately. I'd feel almost obligated to dress up but I wouldn't know who to go as.

I want my wife to cosplay as Catherine. Because so far, that has NOT ended badly.

That Okami one is really impressive. I'm surprised that the dog hasn't lost all of those parts yet, but he/she looks pretty darned hot and uncomfortable. Just like a Cosplayer.
I was trying to think of a really difficult thing to cosplay as and I've never seen anyone try to be the Shadow of the Colossus Colossi (sp?).
