View Full Version : PASSED RPG Discussion
We've had a few different ideas on what to do with these, so I shall open the fate of the RPG Disc. as our first item of business. For now, we can just brainstorm. When it looks like we've got no other ideas we'll put it to the vote.
Should we leave it as is? Split it into Western & JRPG Discussion? Maybe add in a few major series (like FF, Chrono, etc) subforums? Go back to the developer forums but only keep the big ones (Square Enix, Atlus)?
Any other ideas on how to split it up? Should we split it up?
Is there really that much of a difference or an abundance of Western and JRPGs to have their own separate forums?
You could also have "Game of the Moment" forums, in which you create a forum for games upon their release, in which we can discuss game play and strategy.
But this is assuming we gain more members to support this.
The GotM thing we were thinking about earlier. I liked it when we did them, but too many times they wouldn't get any threads at all. Some did well (such as FFXII, Valkyria) but the rest kinda fell flat on their face.
We thought maybe just going by current discussion trends. Add them in as we need them, but not in anticipation for big releases. Going by discussion here, something like Dark Souls might qualify once it hits, providing enough of us are playing. Maybe just play it by ear.
But that's another thread. :P

I'd say keep an "RPG and Game News" forum, and then a "Gaming in General" forum. One for new announcements, unreleased games, (the former) and one for older games (the latter).
There would be a mix of RPG and non RPG, but there's also a bit of organization to it as well. Anything not related to news, or new games, like console discussion, FAQs, etc, would go in the In General forum.

Splitting it up doesn't seem necessary right now. The GotM seems feasible cause titles like Dark Souls would probably be a hit on the forums (assuming the people here have the money to get it at release).
Okay, since we didn't really have any other ideas I am opening this up for a vote. I forgot to select public voting, so this is anonymous.
Anyway, 5 days or whenever one hits a majority (6 votes)

Psst, I still can't vote.
I don't think a split is necessary. Right now I think the fewer, the better. Developer or series subforums would be extremely unnecessary if you ask me.

I dont think a split is necessary, we have few RPGs as it is coming up in recent times and it is quite the common occurence that since they are being released in different platforms, with few being multi, that unless you own all three consoles and a competent PC, you'll miss out on some of them. Like I cant even play Lost Odyssey which seems rather intriguing, even though its from Squenix, and others cant play Valkyria Chronicles or Disgaea.
That said, the most practical split if there must be one, is division through developers, although this presents a problem when you have Sega who rarely does RPGs (but for some reason they seem to score incredibly as with Skies of Arcadia) or small studios which only release one game every two or so years like Vanillaware.
Oh and Wrpgs and Jrpgs seems like a better choice, but besides FFXIIIFUCKYOU, I cant think of other jrpg being release with a similar or most similar exposure.

Since I can't vote I'll just say leave it as it is. Adding more subforums, and splitting the board would just add unneeded clutter if you ask me.

Voted to leave it as is. It's hardly cluttered.
Well, it looks like we are leaving it as is.
Not a bad idea, and I agree that it doesn't need dividing now. If we need to in the future we'll vote again.
