PlayStation boss cites MGS 4 as first of many big hitters; ?difficult? launch now behind the platform holder.

Kotaku reports that SCE president Kaz Hirai has stated that that PS3?s titles boast superior quality to its rivals.

?As PlayStation 3 approaches the second anniversary of its release, the release of PS3 software titles with the true generation quality only available on PS3 is accelerating,? said the Sony exec.

He also added that while the PS3 launch was a ?difficult time?, the future?s looking good for the console after Sony re-positioned it to focus more on gaming - and the platform holder?s sales targets have been met.

"However, by refocusing the positioning of PS3 first and foremost as a gaming platform, we were able to bring an attractive title lineup and achieve a sufficient number of PS3 sales as expected in the fiscal year 2007 holiday season," he added.

The PS3 is looking better as time goes on. As is the case for most consoles after they get past the first year or 2. I like the comment that they are focusing more attention to games over all the other crap. Wow, way to get with the program late Sony! Same goes for the PSP. They were to worried about all the extra's that aren't even the heart of the handheld before finally good games started to get released.

I pretty much stopped listening to Kaz Hirai when he revealed to the world just how big of a retard he is. I ****ing hate him.

The ps3 is my console of choice right now, with the wii and its stupid crap and microsoft being unable to make a working console, its really my only choice now.

Yes all of which will likely be such an insignificant part in the overall gameplay. It's no big deal if the PS3 has a few extra rendered polygons over the 360. It's interesting and exciting games that will determine the overall winner. It's really tiring hearing the same statements from Sony. We have blah blah support and we have blah blah blue ray. Time to put up or shut up Sony. Put out games people want to buy.

Sushi, the problem is quality games like MGS4 takes time to develop. You can't blame Sony for singing the marketing song every now and then too. Anyway, the brutal fact is Wii and Xbox360 (slightly better than Wii but not good enuf) just sux so much in the hardware.

Yeah, I know. My Xbox 360's single HDMI port just leaves me sad and playing games at 1920x1080 just doesn't do it. If only I had a PS3 I'm sure it would have so much more.

Thanks for the hardware specs refresher? I said nothing about hardware, only games, and a crappy game in 1080p is still a crappy game.

Contrast ratio is dependent on your display, by the way, not the console.

Hmm, so will we continue to wait 3 more years for some quality games to come out? There is a lot more to games then just graphics, especially if you are interested in RPGs. Sorry to say it, but the Xbox has the best and largest number of RPGs at the moment and for the foreseeable future.

On that note, I still haven't played Mass Effect. Quebec is kind of silly. I think EB Games is the only place that carries English versions of that game, and I never see them.
