View Full Version : What do you wish to accomplish?

I don't mean the typical New Year's Eve Resolutions, like mine (Drink less, compete in a triathlon)... I mean those things that, when you really get down to it, you want to accomplish. Leave a mark on the world or what not, what would have to happen for you to die without regret?
As for me, I honestly think living my life free and fighting for liberty would be my ultimate goal. This isn't simply saying "I will always vote this way or vote for that person," but taking an active participation in propagating freedom. No matter how childish or juvenile it may seem, in the end, knowing that I lived my life the way I chose and that I did my ****ing best to make sure others had that opportunity is all I ever could hope for.

Dude.
It's not fair. I swear I think these things on my own. You just say them first.

I wanna 1) Not do bad things 2) Help people out. Mostly, I just wanna treat people how I'd like to be treated. Hopefully. At least it's a goal.

1) Participate in helping foreigners who do not have the oppourtunity to learn English do so.
2) Become an English Professor, or something along those lines.
3) Raise a family someday.
4) Work hard as often as I possibly can.
5) Someday continue my chess journies and possibly chess journalism.
6) Advance in my guitar playing.
7) Learn to play the flute, piano, cello, and harmonica.

Ok, after reading all these nice and cuddly responses I feel a little selfish.
Basically, I'd love to be in a movie or TV show and have a part that's well-remembered. Like Rocco in Boondock Saints. It's like the only good movie the guy ever did, but he stole the show. So yeah, I'd like to steal the show once.
I would live my life as if Ford Prefect were living my life. Then, I would die without regret.

I have a lot of things I would like to accomplish, but right now, the number one thing on my list is saving up some money to be able to move to wherever my girl decides to go to become a vet doctor. She means the world to me.

Relax, guy. I don't know what chess journies are, and I've never met a guy who aspires to learn to play the flute. That's all.
Atlas

Chess journies include: tournaments, journalism, conversating about chess, studying chess, etc.
Simple, really.

Atlas I fixed your list for you.
1) Go to school to learn how to write.
2) Work hard (on the above) as often as I possibly can.
3) Participate in helping foreigners who do not have the oppourtunity to learn English.
4) Become an English Professor or something along those lines.
5) Raise a family someday.
6) Invent chess journies.
7) Someday continue my chess journies and possibly chess journalism.
8) Advance in my guitar playing.
9) Learn to play the flute, piano, cello, and harmonica.
10) Find some sort of practical application for knowing how to play the flute, piano, cello, and harmonica.
I like you Atlas. I think you're a nice guy. But for someone who's apparently passionate about the English language, your writing style is a little bit awkward and robotic. Except I think Microsoft Word has you beat on grammatical comprehension.

Are "journies" anything like "journeys"? If not, I'm completely lost.
Phakiel
07-09-2008, 12:25 AM
I thought they are a combination of "jokes" and "tourneys", with a phonetical PUNCH! becoming journies.

Just curious, why a black PT Cruiser.
Anyhow, I'll re list mine since they disappeared.
Start my own business.
Have children.
Visit Europe.
Finish my current cars, start on some more, and amass a descent car collection.
Phakiel
07-09-2008, 12:38 AM
Because I really like that car and I think that getting back at all the evil that Fallen Emanuel has forced upon me by having sex with his girlfriend on top of my favourite cheap car in my favourite colour would be a nice little goal to have.

Thanks for the input, but taking criticism from someone who wouldn't know niceness if it hit them in the ovaries is very difficult for me.
No offense or anything, but you can just keep your whimsical comments to your petty, little self.

Inari

Ok back to the topic.
My goal in life is to someday rid the world of bad grammar. But instead of doing something actually productive like teach grammar in the appropriate venues, I'm just going to go post to post and knock on people's writing skills.
I guess we're not that different after all.
Atlas
07-09-2008, 05:54 AM
We really are that different, actually.
Inari
07-09-2008, 05:57 AM
Well that's because one of us has balls.
(Hint: it's not you.)
Atlas
07-09-2008, 05:59 AM
And what exactly qualifies one to get these metaphorical balls you refer to?
Phakiel
07-09-2008, 06:00 AM
Hey man, Liz has a towering dick remember? If that is possible, Mai can have big hairy masculine balls too.
Atlas

Phakiel
07-09-2008, 06:03 AM
I am just saying, Mai can have testes just as much as Liz can have (and actually has) an overgrown man meat between her legs.
Inari
07-09-2008, 06:05 AM
And what exactly qualifies one to get these metaphorical balls you refer to?
I could teach you, but it's not going to be easy.
Step 1: Paint my fence
Step 2: Wax my car
Step 3: TBD following the completion (and possible repetition) of steps 1 and 2.
