How do you feel about being a gamer? Are you one to shy away when someone asks you what your hobbies are and gaming is one of them?

I know for myself it's something I do so often that I don't hide it at all. I don't care if other people think it's odd or childish to play games. It's something I enjoy doing and will likely enjoy doing for years to come.

How about everyone else?

I'm not the proudest, but most people know I'm into gaming, but they like me in spite of that.

I have no real reason to be ashamed of it. Gaming is a hobbie done in spare time, like how some people learn an instrument, or play sports. I decided to do all three, and gaming is a great activity to do when you're alone and don't want to really want to make a lot of noise. I'm sure there are times when everyone just wants to be alone, vent, or just relax, gaming can be done during all those times...

My pride only goes so far and depends to whom I'm speaking. If I'm talking to someone at the corporate office, saying things like "I spent seven hours playing X game" doesn't tend to make good conversation.

I don't buy into horribly lame gamer culture ('gamer' TV, 'gamer' lingo, 'gamer' likes and dislikes (anime/asians/whatever)). I'm neither proud or ashamed that I play video games. It's like any other hobby I have.

I'm proud to be a Nintendo gamer and an RPG gamer. I actually have Nintendo boxers. I play Mario Party games, and every other Mario game that has come out and I don't care what anyone thinks. I know they are all fun and thats all that matters to me. In fact, some friends of mine who don't play Mario games got sucked in to play them all with me over the years because they just look like simple fun.

I keep it to myself and choose who I talk to about it carefully. I really don't know a lot of people interested in the same types of games as me, so I steer clear of it in conversations.

I don't really care who knows that I play games, but all my kid's friends seem to think it's cool.

Considering video games is one of many hobbies of mine I don't mind telling anyone at all. On the other hand, I don't go around making it known to everyone.

Exactly. It's not one of those "shout it from the roof tops" tings, but it's not some deep dark hidden secret or anything.

I don't know if I classify myself as the typical "gamer" that you most often hear about.

I love playing games and it has been my passion since I was a kid, but I find that a lot of the so called "hardcore" gamers are elitist and hypocritical. For instance, I enjoy Madden and I enjoy the Wii, which are both shunned by the so called "hardcore" gamer. Yet, I also enjoy other " deeper" genres as well and I don't try and limit myself to one or two genres simply so I can fit into a nice label. I play what I want and I don't give a shit about what people think.

I think that a lot of the people who even say that they are "hardcore" are just Playstation era brats who think they know everything about every game anyways. I don't see how these elitist goofs get off saying how much the Wii sucks and everything. You have to give everything a chance and try it out. It's really unfair to judge everything in such a negative light without even testing the waters.

Put it this way Blue, you rock, they don't and now lets all be happy. :)
