Purebred beagle. WHAT DO WE NAME IT? My suggestions:
- Laffer
- Locke
- Caesar (what he was cool in Rome)
- Hobbes
- Leonidas
- Spaceman Spiff
OK but all joking aside this is awesome WHAT DO WE NAME IT? I like pretentious, esoteric names. Epic heroes from any mythology are also awesome.
EDIT: PICTURES. He was pretty melancholy after leaving his fam, but has finally gotten more playful.

Epic names:
T?r - Norse god of Single Combat and Glory.
Hektor, Breaker of Horses - Self Explanatory. Besides, when you are outback calling for him to come in, you can yell "HEEKTOOOOOOOOOOR!" at the top of your lungs, putting on your best Brad Pitt.
Puck - God of Mischeif. Beagles are hyper and get into shit, I feel like this name fits.
Awesome names:
Doctor Acula
Humperdinck / Inigo Montoya - Really, you'd have to talk to the dog in all Princess Bride quotes, but that is very doable.
SteveZ
Or you guys could wait a few days and figure out what his personality is; my cat is named "The Baron Munchausen" because he's an obnoxious attention whore (goes by "Munch" or "The Baron" for short).

My only dog ever was called Moffly. I'm not sure how to pronounce that in English. I think it's something like "M?flee"

Camulus, Gaelic God of War. Beagles are OBVIOUSLY Wardogs.
Or perhaps Baldur. But I do like Loki. Fenrir is....too dark...for a Beagle.
My dad and I are trying to convince the others of Loki or Fenris.
haha I was gunna say Loki. seems fitting for those cute little tricky pups. as for Finris, yeah good concept considering he was the son of Loki, but Finris was a wolf. :p I like Loki better.

Cool dog.
I've noticed that a lot of these names sound good in writing, but don't really come out of the mouth right. You couldn't walk down the street and yell out "Oooodinnnn!" when you're looking for him. So I think Zeus is a much better choice; that's a great dog name. Loki is also very good. but I don't think he looks like a Loki.

Havelock The Dane (which is funny, because he's not a Dane)
Ivan Tsarvich
Campbell's Macinrory Arbuthnot the Seventh
and... umm...
...Jimothy.
Those are my suggestions.
Also, if you want to be creative with the name Loki, you can do what Neil Gaiman did in American Gods and make his name be "Low-Key Lyesmith".

It was so much fun trying to guess which characters were which deities while going through the book. I never figured out who that one god who everyone immediately forgets was though.

Loki is NOT the name for a beagle. What planet are you guys on? Oy.
Baldur is a bit better. Other saga names that would work are Gisli, Snorri (wrote the Baldur saga), or just Saga even.
My favorite is Puck, personally.

What book is this?
What book is this?
American Gods by Neil Gaiman. The Gods of the Old World Gather to protect themselves from the Gods of the New World, like The Internet, Television, etc. It's a really good book with "Cameos" from mythical figures and religious icons spanning the globe and all of time.

Neat, does it require any prior books in order to understand (like is it in the middle of a series)?

Actually, from what I gathered earlier in the chat, Liz, I believe the story starts with American Gods, and after that. . .
(@Hyde) The Monarch on the Glenn picks up 2 years after American Gods
That is in Gaiman's Fragile Things, and it is a short story. I already have Fragile Things and have not read any of it, but I am going by the book store today to see if they carry American Gods, unless they miraculously have Aldous Huxley's Island, but I would not even doubt them even having a selection of Gaiman's works except for maybe Stardust and Anansi Boys. Books-A-Million is just absolutely horrible here, so whenever I am in Little Rock, I will go to Barnes and Noble, which usually has a better selection of what I am seeking. I do all my book shopping on Amazon.com, anyways.
Oh, awesome dog, by the way. I miss having a dog around the house, but my two cats keep me quite entertained, but it is just not the same. However, I will go over my dads quite a bit during the week and see my little chihuahua. I have battle scars. Love him to death, though.
American Gods started the "universe" and was followed by Anansi Boys, which picks up shortly thereafter, but barely features the characters from American Gods. Just one of them, in fact, and not for terribly long. However, the lead character of American Gods, Shadow Moon, appears in the story The Monarch on the Glenn noted to be 2 years after American Gods(though has nothing really to do with the story) in the Short Story Collection Fragile Things by Gaiman.
Shadow is a great character. Most of Gaiman's characters are. I recommend his entire collection.
