this threads purpose is to reveal what you look for in games
me, i look for the games replay quality, as in, is it fun to play through a second time when beaten the first.
Gameplay and Storyline. the two most important things when it comes to gaming IMO.

Depends on the genre of game. For rpgs, it's storyline first....and secondly the battles. If they suck, I get bored and have a hard time finishing a game.

Aesthetics. It's gotta have good style and have the graphics to show it off properly. If that's not there, I can't get much farther (or don't really feel like doing so at least).

That's all that you really need. Good story, graphics, music, are just added bonuses. Though it really does depend on the genre, like Teenychika said. RPGs pretty much require a decent story.

I tend to at least enjoy any JRPG. American RPGs need some thought before I buy them, since they're pretty hit or miss. I look for battle system/skill learning systems and what the equipment is like, I suppose.

I really like to have a good fun factor and replayability. It can really depend on the title. One thing that always makes me happy to see is when a new game comes out from an old series but shows some sort of homage to the later I get excited. It can be anything from mention of old characters to actually having the old game hidden some where on the disk. I love my nostalgia.
For RPGs in particular, I love character interaction the most. I think a good story can only go as far as the characters can carry it. Some of the best games have the most memorable heroes and villians.

Quality of gameplay and replay value in relation to price. $60 for a 5 hour game is.... eh.
The Narrative and Storyline, secondary being Alternate Endings and such(So Replayability) which correlates to the first thing I stated.
You guys really base your purchase on whether or there are multiple endings? Seems a little trivial to me. Well, trivial in case of RPG's.

Well it's better than just having one ending and that be the end of the complete game experience. I want to feel like I'm actually getting my money's worth. Paying $60 for a game I could have just rented for less than $10 angers me to no end. Which is why I love games with newgame+ and added content the second time around.
