I think Idun did a thread like this ages ago and I just remembered it. Remember? something about tossing salad... I miss her.
Anyway Just ask here the questions you have always wanted to know but are either too lazy to find out for yourself or you just don't want to look stupid.
Okay so my question:
You know how when you're a kid and you're on holiday and there?s a pool you want to go to or you're at the beach and you want to go to the sea, But you can't because you just ate a sandwich or something? Well your parents tell you can die if you go in the water right after eating and that you have to let your body digest the food before you go, right? is this a fact?

I always used to swim after eating, and I'm still alive. I don't know if the cramp thing is true or an old wives' tale, but I suppose it's possible

Yeah I went in the water anyways and not much happened.

It is true for me.

The myth started because if you eat a huge juicy steak or something and then go in the water, a shark will tear your stomach open to get it. :)

It's BS.

It's possible but not probable. I've had it happen before and it could have coincidence or it could have been the fact that I hit the water doing at least 40 mph. I don't know. However, death, that's just silly. I could see if you suddenly got a cramp and got stuck in a rip tide and you were completely stupid. in which case natural selection.

I've got a question- how come every damn time I eat now, when I finish, I start sneezing, and sneeze for about a minute or two before I'm finally done?

You're allergic to food?

I would guess you have a food allergy as well. I assume it happens no matter what you eat or drink?

Just now it was a chicken pot pie, earlier it was chicken noodle soup.
I've never had a chicken allergy before. This just started in the last week or so. Oh well.

It must be passive. Or maybe there's something you're allergic to at your dinner table.

This happens to my friend Paul. He has absolutely no idea what it's about, either.

Both of those have one thing in common, and no it isn't chicken. They both have MSG. You might have an allergy to that.

Wow, I didn't know MSG was present in such great concentrations in chicken...
My question: why do people fear MSG and GM food, even though there's no convincing evidence that either's harmful?

What is MSG and GM?
It's what they put in McDonald's frys to make you think that you're full. It's also highly present in foods such as Top Ramen, Cup a Noodles, etc.

As for McDonald's, don't forget the trans fat. MSG stands for mono sodium glutamate. It's cheap substitute for salt. It works as a flavor enhancer and preservative. However, it's bad for you. you'd be better off using real salt.

Whenever I eat spicy foods I get hiccups.
Whenever I have spearmint gum or mints, I sneeze.

I did it again this morning. A gravy biscuit from Mcdonald's.

Trans fat and MSG. Those two can have adverse effects on people. I'm not sating that's the issue, but a possibility.
