Dedication thread to those RPG series that should see another installment this generation.

Just got the idea because of the return of Suikoden after a mildly long wait for those rabid fans.

I know that I could use some more Lunar. None of the Dragon Song crap but a true prequel or sequel in a full sense. One that details Dyne and crew's life would be really neat to finally experience.

Lufia is another one that needs to come back. Like Lunar, with a failed handheld attempt, the series should shift back to console, perhaps as a downloadable title even and bring the series back to what it was supposed to be. Either that or please release Fortress of Doom and Lufia II for the VC.

Chrono series being the final one. With CT on the way, a lot of us have been speculating that Square Enix is testing the market and we could see the series return sooner or later.

More Suikoden!

I'd also love to see a new, good Lufia. Considering how good 2 was, it's a shame they never made a real continuation. Love that sinistral battle theme.

I'd like a Grandia 4 without all the stuff that held 3 down.

And more Hitman :)

Being a huge fan of Grandia, I feel ashamed to have never played 3 (I have a fairly good reason though). Yet I would absolutely love to see another installment. It's probably my favorite running series, overall. If we do see Grandia continue I can see it doing so on a handheld for some odd reason. Must be because of the Suikoden and Dragon Quest jump to the DS.

Xeno series. I dont care if it doesnt follow Gears or Saga, as long as it keeps that familiarity between the games and the whole epic feeling they had, and as long as it doesnt suck as Episode 2 which I could only stomach because it dealt with Jr. a lot, and he is my favourite Saga character.

I would like to have the Gaia series back too. I could take a remake of Terranigma, which it must be one of the best games for the snes that very few peoplen played and to me its the best Gaia game.

A Lufia revival wouldnt hurt.

I too would love to see more Lunar and Chrono goodness. Every other series that I really love still has games coming out.

Xenosaga needs to redo gears with Xenosaga-like characters and stuffs. Luisfe agrees.

Besides the ones listed above, I'd like to see another Shadow Hearts game...and not a crappy one like 3 was XD And more Chrono games! And a Radiata Stories sequel.

I'll second Lufia.

I wish Shining Force had remained with Camelot, too....

SF4 would've been a dream.

3's good, Sushi, but it's not Grandia or Grandia 2 good :( It has its moments but is too predictable.

Awesome, awesome scenery in some areas, though. Totally blew me away once or twice.

More Shadow Hearts, with the story quality of 1 mixed with the perfect gameplay of 3.

Cool, I remember seeing screen shots and thinking it didn't seem at all like Grandia, but it looked nice regardless. If the story is average but the battle system is okay then I would be sold. I really loved Grandia and Grandia 2, and I even hacked all the way through Grandia Xtreme (over 120 hours) so I'm sure I'd like III.

I'm all over Shining Force as well Borg. But it has to be a Strategy RPG and not some hybrid action RPG title. I don't get it, no one wants an action RPG Shining Force game...NO ONE. That's why the series had different names like Shining Wisdom and such. Force was always meant to be a Strategy RPG and that's all.

Aside from the ones mentioned (especially Shadow Hearts), I'd like to see another Breath of Fire installment.

I am down for a new Chrono, Lufia, or Lunar game. I never played the Lunar DS title, but I was told to pretty much stay away from it. I want some goods.

Another real Phantasy Star would be nice. As would a new Wizardry title that I wouldn't need lessons in Japanese to play. A new Might & Magic game that doesn't suck would be sweet. As would System Shock 3. Hmm, then there's Ys. I wish Falcom would consider localizing the PC games and bring out a new one. Doesn't matter if it's console or PC as long as it's brought over here.

It's always going to be a new Chrono game for me. At least until they start listening to all of us.

Where the f$#k is my Skies of Arcadia 2?

It's not exactly a series, but a Dragon Force II would be sweet. Same battle system but with today's graphics and a new cast would be awesome.

Valkyria Chronicles will feature a few characters from Skies in it. That's one of the biggest draws for me to that game. Skies 2 would be nice, but it would have to feature a brand new cast of characters and world to explore if they decide to do it. Not sure if Overworks is even functioning over at SEGA any more.

Data, there was a Dragon Force II so we'd have to wait for Dragon Force III. :)

 Is it more rare than the original? Damn . . . I'll probably never get my hands on that.

Edit: Ah . . . no English translation. Those bastards!

With only two games in it, it's actually quite a stretch to call it the Chrono Series, but I would welcome another one. Both Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross were excellent games, and certainly deserving of another addition. At this point in time with the impending second re-release of the original game, it's nice to see that Square still somewhat cares about what just might be the greatest Japanese RPG of all time, but I honestly feel they don't care enough to add more to it.

Another pair of games not quite a series, the two Parasite Eves, would also benefit from another installment, I think. Though the sequel strayed quite a bit from the RPG formula laid down by its somewhat superior predecessor, the second Parasite Eve played very different, yet still maintained some RPG elements that worked out quite well. Leveling up spells and whatnot certainly set it apart from the typical workings of the survival-horror genre, for which the game obviously found much inspiration in the Resident Evil franchise (which is legitimately a series, heh). Supposedly there's a new addition to the PE universe, in the form of a game called The 3rd Birthday that began life as a cell phone game in Japan, with rumors of it coming to the PSP elsewhere in the near future. It'll be nice to play as Aya Brea again, though without "Parasite" or "Eve" in the title, I doubt the game will really be what I've been waiting for.

And yeah, another Shadow Hearts game could be good, but I'm skeptical. What started out as a great horror themed RPG series has really degenerated into a parody of itself, with constant jokes that often fall flat and too many idiot characters. The third and last game (fourth if you count Koudelka), was so far removed from where everything started, it could have easily had a different title and nobody would have cared. If meant to return to its roots, then a new Shadow Hearts could be cool, but if they continued in the direction they started moving with Covenant and then totally embraced with From the New World, forget it.

Thankfully, a third Parasite Eve is on the way.

I never played any of the Parasite Eve games, even though I have them sitting around someplace in the house, so I cannot give an opinion, but from the looks of the first screens from 3rd Birthday, the game looks nice.

Yeah, but that's okay. I've heard that the second game wasn't nearly as good as the first one. I'm sure that one of the biggest reasons that they never localized the second game was that I read the original producer of the game really disliked Working Designs (particularly Victor Ireland) and didn't want anything to do with them. That and the Saturn was pretty toast in the North American market.

Yes, and you know what. We all are game addicts here. I wonder why we hadn't outgrown it? probably because the world is as boring as it is.
