Anyone excited about Septembers releases for the DS?

I plan on picking up Disgaea, Dragon Quest IV, and maaaaybe Rhapsody.

I'm just getting Sonic Chronicles, thought that might be more of an October release...DQ4 looks pretty good, but I've got enough on my plate for now.

I am pretty skeptical about the new Sonic game. I am going to wait a long while before I touch that one.

I would personally hold off on Rhapsody. It's easy as hell, so I dunno if I feel like I'd be getting my money's worth.

How long of a game is it?

Dick Fitzwell

Like many other games, I've never finished it. However, you'll never be stuck because nearly every battle you get in, you'll level.

I'm looking to get Sonic Chronicles, Dragon Quest IV and Rhapsody for sure. It's a good month to be an RPG fan and a DS owner.

Why no love for the Sonic game Jarrid? It looks to be the best Sonic game that has been released in a while.

Is that the one made by Bioware? If so, I'll want to give it a try, at the very least.

Yeah that's it. Bioware was contracted out before EA (sucks) bought them out so they are finishing the game with SEGA obviously publishing it. I have pretty high hopes for it because I've enjoyed all the Bioware games I've played in the past.

I have just been a little weary of the Sonic series since like. . . forever ago. I hope Bioware can save Sonic.

If anyone can help Sonic, it would be Bioware. Gonna be lots of dialogue and choices, turn-based fighting at high speeds, plenty of puzzles, plus old school levels, like angel island.

I'm looking forward to it, actually. Hopefully I can find my charger for my DS sometime soon...

You can get one at Gamestop for like 10 dollars. I had to do that once.

Dick Fitzwell

Yeah I took a look for that the other day, and I decided I should wait until I get paid.

I can't wait to see Bioware help Sonic back on the path of glory. I've been looking forward to that game since E3. But... it will have to wait until I have monies. No new DS games for me this month.

Well, Dragon Quest IV came out yesterday. I am in a tight spot right now, so I am going to have to wait until after Friday to pick my copy up, and I am addicted to the pointless quests in FFTA2 to put it down. Anyone else buying it? I never played the original.

Ges

I juest picked up FFTA2 as well, loving it, although I have a lot on my plate, with school and many other games I'm still playing, to really jump in a whole bunch. I bought and played FFTA to death on the GBA, and this one is good, but I kinda miss the JP-by-action system rather than the new JP-at-battle's-end system. I can't attack my own units for JP now.

:/

56 jobs. Crazy.

I haven't really had the time to check, but is there wifi head-to-head battling in FFTA, Jarrid? If so, would you be up for a few battles?

DQ4 obtained yesterday. Good game.

I already have my Disgaea DS pre-ordered. It'll be nice to take such an addicting game out and about with me. I might not need another DS game for a long time.

Hey, Ges. I am only seeing the ability to trade characters. I would be down to do that if I had the right connection. :(

Contagion

I didn't know you could trade characters. I wouldn't though since each of them has mastered at least 4 jobs each and I put a alot pampering into them.

FFTA2 has consumed my soul. How many damn available quests are there in the game? I already have 45 hours on it, and my next story quest involves me doing something in Moorabela with the airship or whatever it is, which I do not think is very far at all because the story has not progressed one bit except for some unknown crystal a guy dropped. I do not even know what the hell is going on to tell you the truth. :p

400 quests total. And yeah, there is pretty much no story, just fun gameplay.

Sounds a little like Disgaea, only with a Judge telling you what you can't do.

Not as penalizing this time around. Party members don't go to jail.

Jarrid
09-19-2008, 04:33 PM
Yeah, I usually just ignore him if he tells me not to harm the weak or have an attack below 100 damage. Screeew that. 400 quests, though? Damn. I think I am only 95 or so right now. Yeeeeesh. It is going to be a while before I start playing DQIV. I am going to go pick it up Sunday if it is there.

I highly, highly recommend Dragon Quest IV to you guys. I loved the third one and didn't think this would strike my fancy quite as much, but I'm well into chapter 5 now and I definitely don't regret the time spent.

Only bad part is they took out the party talk dialog from the Japanese version of the remake. A pity, since I found the characters to be pretty interesting.

I've considered getting DQ4, but I think I'm going to hold off maybe a week or two. Got some other games to 100% before I get into another game. How long have you played it so far Nickoten?

My FFTA2 file, I did 220/400 quests and that still took me about 65 hours. So if you plan on doing them all, I have a ton of respect for your patience! :D

Now that I'm done with Tales of Vesperia I'll have the store credit I need for Disgaea DS. ^^

I like. . . have to do it, you know? The game is so childish and the dialogue is horrible, but the quests. . . so addicting. I think it has to do a lot with the weapon/armor bazaar. Oh well.

I did all the quests I could until the end of the game. Then I figured when I have nothing else to play, go back to it...but that might be a while...(years?)

I was intending just to try it out, but I've sunken around 23 hours into it, after about a week. It's really good, one of those "Fun because it's amazingly non-painful" RPGs. Really gets it right.

Okay, to those that have played DQ4 before and maybe playing it still right now. . . did they screw up the translation? Everything was alright until it switched over to the older guy in the castle, and everyone in that kingdom/town/whatever talks like a redneck with a Canadian accent. I thought I remember reading about how it originally used words such as "thou" and so forth. I was a bit drunk when I first played the game, and I immediately took it out and replaced it with Disgaea DS. I will try eventually getting to it after Disgaea but damn! That really got on my nerves.

Nickoten

Originally it didn't have accents at all, and they used Middle English for the NES Dragon Warrior games (I dunno if this continued to IV though). For this remake, they use Scottish, Russian, Irish, and Indian dialects (Well, for Russian and Indian it's inabilities to speak English more so than dialects) to give each character's portion of the world its own flavor. It's at its worst (If you don't like it, that is) for Ragnar's chapter, and I think you won't have as much of a problem with the later ones.

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia

First DS game I'll be buying in - literally - years.

What?!

I will have to check the new Castlevania out, though. I have not seen anything on it yet

Shane Bettenhausen in the August 15, 2008 1Up Yours podcast raved after his hands-on experience with the game, "It's maybe... the best Castlevania ever", and called it a cross between Symphony of the Night and Simon's Quest, noting that the high difficulty level ("You will die a lot. You will die all the time") was balanced by the roleplaying elements. Bettenhausen also raved about the quality of the game, despite the length, noting there are "3 or 4 levels of things to find". He concluded his experience with the game stating "It's all action-RPG oriented Castlevania at its best".

While I am excited to see the new Castlevania game in action for myself, it's truly shocking that you've managed to not buy any DS games in years Moogle. Nothing of interest to you at all? Was the last game you bought Portrait of Ruin?

Sounds pretty sweet. I've actually been a little at ends with the DS lately. I don't want to get a turn based RPG, but those seem to be the only games standing out.

Yup. But I was going to get Nanostray 2. I've been putting that off for awhile now.

But one of the main reasons is because my DS has been acting up and most games' graphics show up glitchy. So I'm going to have to borrow my brother's for awhile.

Nanostray 2 seemed pretty good. Looks better then the first one, which is still an okay game. I'm still surprised that you haven't buckled down to buy anything else for the DS regardless of it being broken or not.

Void, there are so many other good games for the DS worth buying that aren't RPGs if you don't want to go that route.
