Since the forums have moved, I have a completely hypothetical question. If you make a complete copy, is it still the same as the original?

And yes. I have been watching .hack//SIGN.

Good thread.

My opinion is no. Even if it is a complete copy, it simply wasn't the first. That's why it's not the same.

A clone is not the same person that was cloned. Many things were lost in translation.

Depends what you're talking about.

Not to mention that a clone would have a completely different background, since it is a entirely new being, only with the same genetic information as the original.

Of course, that's just for organic cloning. If it is about data cloning, they may as well be the same, since the only significant difference is in the media where the data is stored. Otherwise? The same exact thing.

I would imagine it's like having a twin. Just a twin that was birthed a little later. You both look exactly the same, maybe even sound alike, but are two completely different people.

Same shells, different souls.

As far as inanimate objects go, that's debatable.

I've always had a wish, as a scientist and a student of genetics, to eventually have two cloned children seperated at birth and raised under IDENTICAL controlled circumstances. I'd be curious about the results.
