I haven't even gotten a PS3 yet but I would love to live vicariously through those folks who do and are playing this game.

PLEASE USE A SPOILER TAG OR NOT ONLY WILL I LOBBY ENDLESSLY TOWARDS YOUR BAN BUT I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN AND HAVE MY WAY WITH YOU BUT NOT IN A SEXY WAY AND IT WILL SURELY INVOLVE KNIVES.

Somehow, that still sounds sexy.
And yes, I am playing it my self. Anyone who has read my birthday thread should know that already. Yummy 80GB goodness.

My husband will probably be getting it payday, next week. If he lasts that long and doesn't go trade in a bunch of stuff. I hate when he does that, that's why I no longer own Xenogears.

The entire game was complete awesome.
Im already starting a second. Looks like GTA will have to wait just a bit longer.

Dude If they sold it here without costing more than US$1000 I would so buy that bundle. Metal Gear Solid is the ****ing tits and MGS4 looks like the virgin mary of tits.

Hmmm, that sure was a blasphemous metaphor right there.

Ahhhh it's so awesome so far. My dad, brother, and I actually sat down and played it (this is something that has not happened since my dad and I beat Zelda on the SNES together.) A truly nerdy Friday, I admit it, but 'twas worth it.

;; I'm behind on all my gaming. I just bought a Wii and need to work through it first. I got a little taste of MGS4 today and I'm bitter I waited this long.

Haha, if that's a truly nerdy Friday, then I guess just about every day is truly nerdy in my house. :)

My husband really wants this, if I weren't broke, I'd get it for him for father's day from the kiddies.

Yeah, I bought it for him for Christmas the year it came out. It was before I had really gotten into gaming, and he traded it and a bunch of other stuff in for a new video card for his computer. This is back when EB sold stuff like that.

Now, I mark stuff he can't trade off limits, I learned my lesson the hard way on that one.

I'm an hour into MGS3. After I beat it, I might go back to MGS2 and do the Snake Tales, since he is cooler than Raiden (but Raiden is still cool!)

Can't wait to get my hands on MGS4, which will be late next week hopefully.

I had noticed it fluctuates based on if your in a serious situation or in a war zone. if its calm you pay alot of shit. same for getting paid.

yeah I figured as much...I only buy Ammo and surpressors right now. no use waisting my DP.

AngelofSorrow
06-15-2008, 03:08 PM
I've got every gun except the Flintlock Rifle and something else I can't remember. Got all of the attachments too, not including the supressors because they aren't a one buy thing. On my first play through I mostly used the M4, a P90 and always had a sniper rifle just incase.

I love the Custom M4. its by far my favorite thus far. I have a Master Key Customized on it right now so its also a Shotgun. I <3 it!

Closer to the end of the game I purchases the M8A2A2, because I love Barrett's .50 caliber rifles, so I plan on using it as much as possible. Though, I wish it were the M82A1, because thats my favorite.

Mark
06-16-2008, 10:05 PM
haha yeah I need more practice with my rifle skills online. perhaps I should change it up from the M4 for a bit.

Cyrus, I would never do that. Even if you play it years from now, it'll be worth the wait, imo.

I wanted to get in that Act 4 was a massive fan service. Reliving MGS memories in PS3 graphics and HD? Yes, please. It was like faking sick in fifth grade to stay home and play all over again, except it was bittersweet since everything had fallen into disarray, Snake was dying, and the flashbacks added a lot to that.

Oh, and be honest: raise your hand if you tried switching controllers *raises hand*

My cousin's got it a couple of days ago, and it is absolutely amazing. So far I only played it with him and taking turns for a good chunk, but I can't wait till I have some free time to go just play the whole way through by myself. What a work of art!

Just beat MGS3 today. I heard MGS4 makes the rest of the series look like stool samples, so that must mean it is a gift from the heavens! I'm going to have to jump on this one asap.

Okay, I really need to ask a question here:

Does anyone here actually think that the MGS series storyline is executed well? And by that, I don't mean the story as a whole. The entirety of the plot, with the cast's struggles against the Patriots and war in general, is pretty interesting. Also, I'm really impressed by Kojima's messages and themes. However, I've been turned off by the actual execution of the story because some things about it just seem . . . wonky . . . to me.

Examples including: Raiden and Rose's relationship, the revival of improbable characters (anyone who's beaten MGS4 will know what I mean), plot twists upon plot twists just for the sake of having plot twists . . . and unbearably pretentious melodrama.

I like Metal Gear's story, but much of the dialogue and scene direction just makes me want to vomit. Is there no one who feels the same way?

Less Than Liz
07-02-2008, 09:03 PM
I loved it because it was completely in line with Kojima's usual use of cliches and pretension throughout his storylines. I don't think it was absolutely perfect and have a few gripes here and there, but find them almost negligible when I think about my "MGS experience" as a whole.

Cyrus the virus

I kind of like the flawed execution of the MGS storyline. In a way it feels more realistic, since it often doesn't make sense, and the way it unfolds is confusing and subject to question. I figure when Snake finally understands everything at the end of 4, so does the player. It's neat.

To preempt Zeal's request to list some flaws, here's one to chew on: the fact that all of Snake's individual hairs move but boobs are apparently made of rock.

Finished this last night. A satisfying close to an awesome series, despite the ridiculous and convoluted story. Kojima may be a terrible writer, but his reliance on cliche and BIG ACTION MOVIE MOMENTS created a lot of awesome "OH SHIT" sequences throughout the series. The characters, who've always been the real stars of the show, despite the problems I might have had (again, shitty writing), pretty much came full-circle. I even found the gameplay enjoyable. Will play again.

Liz, I don't know who you were looking at, but I saw some definite boob movement on Screaming Mantis, at least, and the others probably also had it but I wasn't looking that closely at the time.

OK, yes, I'll give you Screaming Mantis, but Naomi? Big Mama?

AngelofSorrow

I thought I remember all of the B&B getting jiggle?
But yeah, Naomi and [not that I want to see it] Big Mama didn't get much if at all.

Weren't they wearing more restraining clothing, though? I can't remember exactly.

Maybe Kojima could have had the DOA team come in to make some last minute character model adjustments.
