I don't know about the rest of you, but I absolutely can't STAND being sick...

I can't stand the feeling of my head feeling like it's gonna topple me over because I'm so congested. I can't stand feeling hot because of the fevers. I can't stand being unable to breathe, or the general lethargy. I hate being sick so much it's ridiculous. By the way, I'm posting this because I AM sick and it's making me rather annoyed.

By comparison, I'd rather be shot in the arm or knifed in the leg or something. Broken Bones. Pain. You know? I'd rather be in pain than be sick because pain I can take a couple pills for and it goes away(or I go away depending on the pills) and while I may be hurt...I am, at least, able to breathe and go about my day.

I cannot STAND being sick. What about you people?

Somehow I doubt that's true.

Everyone hates being sick. I have a low tolerance for pain on the whole, so I'd absolutely prefer the common cold over any kind of serious or moderate injury.

It's ENTIRELY true. I've been stabbed before(though, never shot) and the pain doesn't bother me that much. No pain really does. I'd much rather have a broken ankle or something like that be sick. I hate being sick THAT MUCH.

I have an amazing immune system and get mildly sick maybe once a year, if that.

I have never had a serious injury in my life.

Umm... I guess it depends on the severity of the injury/illness. I guess I'd just go with the one that I can recover from more quickly.

Last time I was hurt was when i was 14 years old as caused by a basketball injury where i had to have my right foot in a cast for like 3 weeks or so.

I have allergies, mostly because of dust or seasonal changes, so I am occasionally sick with them and have to take medication and its awful because its a thing thats its so common but yet you can still function with it, albeit at a slower pace, so you cant take time off work, unless you wake up completely trashed which, over a 2 week allergy episode happens maybe one day.

I dont like to be sick but I dont think I would prefer being hurt over it.

Not too long ago I had been very sick for years. I'd gladly be hurt over being sick again.

sometimes when i am sick, i tend to be very moody. Who wont have mood swings when you are experiencing like something is falling through your head. Meteors? Stones? Dunno. But it's heavy.

Having just come out of brain surgery, I can say that I would much rather be hurt than sick. At least that can usually be fixed and if not, it's not as long.

Sickness doesn't always mean a congestion.

I have a high pain tolerance..I would rather be hurt than sick. To be sick is not funny it's annoying, but pain makes me laugh literally.

Whoa, you got brain surgery? What was up with that?

They both suck. I choose neither.

The other day I dropped an umbrella on my foot and it broke my toe nail in two and it caused me a horrendous amount of pain. I was really surprised by the agony I was in. And that was nothing near to a broken bone or being shot. I also hate not being able to breathe out of my nose. I don't like having a sore throat. And headaches are one of the worst things imaginable. I've never been seriously ill in my life and I'm a baby when it comes to even those little things. I like being healthy :)

I'd rather be sick. I have a chronic sprained ankle (it never finishes healing before I sprain it again after my one big, bad, horrid sprain) and sometimes I'd just rather cut my foot off. Then of course I'd be dealing with phantom pains so I never go through with it. :P

I'd much rather have a cold, a bladder infection, flu, diarrhea, or any of my usuals than have to deal with a sprained ankle. Hell, the residual in between sprains is painful enough. I used to be able to walk miles- now I'm in severe pain after half an hour of walking. And I can't run anymore. I'd rather be sick all the time.. although then again, I've never had a serious, debilitating illness.

I can tolerate sickness much better than I can physical pain.

I'm a pansy.

Depends. If the pain is comparable to the sickness, I'd rather have pain. I'm almost constantly sick, because of the condition of my asthma. If I'm ever in a room with impurities in the air (this extends to 2nd hand smoke, as well, but mostly animal dander, mould, solvents, and pot smoke), if I don't stop my reaction immediately, it usually developes into something worse. For example, I'm just getting over tonsilitis, and now I've had something else for the past three days. Now, I'm not telling my friends to get rid of their cats, but it would be nice if I could go to someone's house and just once, they don't fucking smoke pot.

Anyway, that turned into a rant that I wasn't really trying to start.

Of course it would depend on the degree of sickness or pain, but overall, I would have to go with pain. In a healthy person, the healing process is a pretty precise cycle, so you know about how long you're going to be in pain from, let's say, a broken bone, laceration, or any injury for that matter. Where as being sick, you might feel better, then get sick again; it sometimes feels like it will never end. I was really sick when I was a child for a long time and I remember the day my fever finally broke, I was so ecstatic. I never wanted to be sick again.

Hurt for all the reasons above, and I'll raise you 'chicks dig scars.'

Most of the time you dont see getting sick coming. Pain on the other hand, is pretty obvious. I like the chance to prepare myself for it.

I don't get to prepare for pain very often... usually something unexpected happens to me that results in pain. Do you get in a lot of fights or something? :P
