So who else went out and got this awesome game?
I've been playing it since I bought it and have already clocked 72 hours. Playtime has been a bit gimped since I started my new job but I'm making decent progress to making my ultimate team. So far I'm in chapter 6 and have unlocked up to tier 3-4 of the human classes, and am working on farming Armmaster specialists for supreme weapon mastery gain.
I reckon this game isn't going to get old anytime soon.

Just curious: is there anything *not* in this game that was in the PS2 version?

Disgaea DS = Disgaea for the PSP
However, I believe the game includes a few new things. . . maybe.
I bought it last week, but I have not even started Dragon Quest IV, and that happens to be on the list after I finish FFTA2. I look forward to playing it, though. I already know the game will have tons grinding time.
FFTA2. . . ugh. Hit 185 hours not too long ago. Almost completed, though.

A majority of the VA. You'll only hear the opening sequence, pre-chapter title and next chapter review. Also the in battle attack VA. Diagonal throwing is out (I miss it), but other than that, nothing major. The missing VA isn't some big deal as soon people make it to be, I really don't care.
But on the plus side, you get Etna mode, new secret characters, portability, local multiplayer, item world bgm selection, and prinny commentary.
Pretty awesome buy even if you played the original, even if only for more Disgaea goodness.

Why would they get rid of diagonal throwing? That's crazy.
I'm really tempted to get the game; I'm almost afraid that if I wait, it'll become semi-rare in the near future.

Tell me about it. I could use some diagonal throwing right about now. Goddamn item world...

O_O
Yeah, diagonal throwing seems to be almost a necessity sometimes. Though, I do not understand how in the hell I am supposed to clear a stage in the Item World if the monster is 10,000 blocks away without any way (that I know of) to kill it. That really got me going the other night when I had a few bonus points built up, and I had to just eventually skip to the next floor.

Yeah, sometimes you just got to jump in that portal. I make sure a level can be finished before I even mess with the bonus gauge.
Sometimes not even diagonal throwing can save some of these random maps. I only get pissed if it's a specialist I came to get that is unobtainable, even by my 8 space (+1 if using 2 or 3 formation) attacking mages can't reach. Bleh to that.
Still only in chapter 9. Doing a little powerleveling to unlock the Galaxy mage class, which is going to be a pain but I want to get rid of all my skulls and mages and make them into galaxy versions so they can multitask. Might have to just settle with Prism and work my way up from there. Actually...that's not a bad idea...

Oh yeah, I have another question. Does this version have the option to speed up special attacks like in Disgaea 2? That's one thing that bugged me when going back to play the original.

You have the option to turn off friendly and enemy effects. Definetely a must have option and a welcome addition to this game.

Just curious: on items such as a weapon, what does having a circle(s) next to the add or bonus help?

They ust show what a specialist is powering up. The bonus/add areas pertain to certain ones like Armsmasters which increase weapon skill mastery gain and Aeronauts which increase your wind proficiency.
