L4D2

Left 4 Dead 2 will probably be my favorite game of the year, aside from modern warfare 2.
As a huge fan of the first game, I'm sure I'm not the only one who has always wanted to crack a zombie in the jaw with an obscure object (like, say, a frying pan.. or a guitar!) This time around, there's nothing but chaos. With 3 new special infected thrown into the mix, not to mention the sheer number of extra goodies to pick up along the way is astounding. Laser sights that improve accuracy, machete's and chainsaws, incendiary ammo, grenade launcher, explosive bullets! I have been playing the first-two-level demo since it was released, and I just keep getting more and more excited about this game. And there are new game modes as well. Looks like I will be playing this religiously for about a month or so.

Then again, I fuckin love killin zombies.

what about you guys?

I would've gotten it (the original) if everyone here hadn't gone the Steam route.

Get it for the 360, folks! I don't have one of those newfangled PCs.

I only played the original for a couple hours, but I can honestly say I didn't love it. I never played it online however, and I'm sure that's a must. I dunno FPS Zombie shooters don't entice me like RE type games do. I can't wait for MW2 though.

Luckily you us Ges I'm getting it on the 360 as well. I don't have much choice, so anyone else who doesn't have a ton of money to throw at buying a good enough PC can join us in the mayhem.

Yay, I might give it a purchase then.

It will probably be a Christmas game if I get it, I have too many games I need to get before this at the moment.

As an aside...what are the minimum PC specs? I have a top of-the-line PC....from 2002.

Seriously guys dont forget that L4D runs on the same engine that valve has been using since HL2. If you can run HL2 you can run L4D2. I know a dude that plays it with a P4 CPU and a 6 series nvidia card. If you have at least that and a gig or 2 of ram you should be fine to play on medium settings as long as you dont expect to be playing with a really high rez.

And it really doesnt take much to make a gaming capable pc. The cheapest Ive been able to put one together that would be able to play anything on the market including crysis at medium/high settings was 500 with the price of an OS included. So really it was 400.

But on topic... Im not getting L4D2 anytime soon. Im not going to argue that its not a good game because I know it is. And I know its better then the first but Im not gonna pay 50 bucks for it. No way. If your new to the series I believe that price is well worth it. But for me... not so much.

Steam is telling me I have 313 hours on record for the original and Im not gonna pay 50 bucks for new skins, models, and a new mode. L4D2 is an expansion in my eyes. Ill wait till I can get it for 20 or 30 bucks. Im pretty burnt out on L4D regardless so Ill wait till next year. Im trying to save all the money I can for a new PC so Im not really buying anything else right now either.

Aside from my issues with valve releasing the game at full retail price I was never that excited about the game to begin with. The cast kinda bothered me. I got annoyed with them just playing the demo for a few hours.

And they were amping up the melee weapons but I dont care for them. Killing zombies with frying pans doesnt float by boat.

Let it be known that I have received L4D2 and Windows for Chanukkah. As soon as my boyfriend helps me set up bootcamp, it is on.

I recently got into L4D, and even more recently L4D2, but I'm still not very good at either. I'm still not really used to FPS games, I didn't really play any since the original Half Life and Tribes. And now I bought a whole bunch on Steam recently. :\
