I'm not calling her Carly Rae Jepsen if she keeps asking me to call her Maybe.

That song as been stuck in my head all week....along with this (skip to 0:55 or so and don't ask why this is stuck in my head):

....and in an attempt to not seriously derail this thread much more, I'll have to throw my favorite Xenoblade song in here, Mechonis Field (a bitchin' techno tune at that):

Also, the title theme:

I could just post the entire thing, honestly. Check it out!

Final Fantasy II/IV has great music, especially Golbez's theme. You knew you were a goner when he showed up. Overall, great game, storyline, and characteristics

As my second most favourite psx rpg, Persona 2 has a great intro song, the track has an industrial slow tempo beat and the images are great, you are like, wait what the fuck is going to happen in this game, incredibly the game is much more disturbed.

This was my first smt game so I didnt know what I was getting myself into, although is more tame than other game in the series I guess.

Now Wild Arms intro is one I cannot stop listening to as time goes by, its one of the few rpg songs that have been on playlists ever since I first heard it

And now something to just lean back and enjoy a nice cigar and a glass of wine

I thought Xenosaga (all three of 'em) had rather eh music, especially being helmed by Mitsuda.

It was all too...sterile, I guess?

It had its moments but nothing too good.

Compared to Xenogears it was a lackluster effort in the music department. I still get shivers when Melkaba pops into my playlist.

However, I always enjoyed the peaceful tune of the UMD hub.

That Xenosaga track was actually very reminiscent for me and made me think of playing PSO on dreamcast during the good old days. The tracks people posted got me thinking of others that sounded similar, so here are some more picks from me.

I know this one isn't an RPG, but it's worth mentioning because of what an astonishing track they were able to produce on such extremely limited hardware they had to work with. I think it's timeless, personally.

Parasite Eve had some good tracks and even though I never liked the second game as much, I loved the remix tracks they did of the original. This track sticks out the most whenever I think of any games in the series.

I swear that Saga Frontier 2 is an overlooked game and had gotten a bad rap here in america, but the OST is very much worth your time. There are even some tracks that sound like Chrono Trigger

Last one for now, Vandal Hearts. A lot more simplified than FF Tactics, but a great game all it's own. A majority of it's music exhibits a lot of strength and overtones having to do with the bravery and courage of it's characters.

I like on the psp version of Final fantasy IV and The After Years Square allowed you to listen to two versions of the same music, course the newer version is a little better because they did it to satisfy the new generation of game players.

If you dont have the game yet on the psp, at least give it a chance. Besides from the music perspective, they did a great job upgrading the graphical features. ( Magic, Characters, and Monsters, of course, the mean bosses.

If anyone can recall Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, though it was not an rpg, it carried rpg traits. I really enjoyed the characteristics it brought. The music itself gave off a feeling that trouble was brewing It is a rare find these days, and if you are lucky to locate it, it's worth it.

Actually speaking of Castlevania, this is my top favourite Castlevania song

FFV is actually my favourite snes ff, sure its the weakest story and character wise but the job system was so much fun.

FF5 was the one that started the whole job tree system that a few other games used (I think it was 5, might have been 3). A few people think it's the best Final Fantasy for that reason.

Symphony of the night, I've heard from everyone, is a great game but I unfortunately never played it. I know that I'm missing out, I just haven't gotten around to it yet is all. My interest in the series got a little mucked because of the first two NES games...after playing Simon's Quest I was DONE for a few years. Then I played Lament of Innocence on PS2 and that turned out to be a Devil May Cry rip off more than anything. But it appears the franchise has come a long way and I don't mind picking it back up again, at least as far as SOTN is concerned.

Is 3 even released here somewhere yet? We got HD PSP versions of 1 and 2...and 4. I know there was something that came out on DS but isn't there another version somewhere? I think 3 may be the only one I never played because it seems to be the one that has to least exposure here that I know of.

EDIT: GameFAQs says this about the PSP version: "This game is scheduled for release in Japan 09/20/12. Once it's out, GameFAQs will accept and post FAQs, cheats, and reviews as soon as they come in." It's gonna be some bullshit if it doesn't make it here but I guess we can't really be surprised. I don't know why not though they already gave us 1, 2, and 4 like I said.
