Little Big Planet

OK, so I bought this last night and have played a few hours. My immediate impression was a feeling of being in pre-school again with all the play-doh and legos except I have the appreciation (and motor skills) for it now. Such an incredibly feel-good game, and I'm loving the Hitchhiker's Guide narrator. I might have to write the Target employee who helped in my decision to purchase it a thank you note. One has to wonder though: who discourages rude behavior and things you couldn't do/say in front of granny but names the main character "Sackboy"?

I'm ashamed to say it took me a few tries to figure out the third level.

Apparently there are more costumes available on PSN. Oh god, not my paycheck, nooooo!

Any of you guys playing this?

I have been trying to convince my friend into buying it, but he does not like the looks of it. To me, LBP looks helluva fun, though.

For those who haven't heard, you can download the Spaceman suit and Pumpkin Head costumes from PSN. Both are free. No word about the Launch T.Shirt.

What kind of crap is this? My favorite user created levels are all based on other IPs. I would hate to see them go.

Indigo is an unknown quantity at this point
i've been intrigued by it. I was out buying a birthday present for my friend in london and i say a two floor work shop in the middle of this shopping center where there were people making those stuffed toys and playing PS3, it was like a massive fan base, you could just go in and played it. I didn't try it though, but i'm thinking of going back there to check it out.

Though I have yet to do a single thing with the level design feature, the story mode is a load of fun. It's definitely a step forward for the sidescrolling genre, with a perfectly 3D visual style that in no way conflicts with the game's 2D feel. Incorporating the modern day 3D element of well-implemented physics really adds so much to the game's traditional 2D platforming formula, as well as a welcome measure of humor and heart in its unpredictability. While I can't be certain that it's the first game in the genre to employ physics, it certainly does it with great precision; this is what sidescrollers have been waiting for. While playing the game, especially in those stages that feature moments of great speed, I often think of Sonic the Hedgehog, and how a game that functions like LittleBigPlanet is what that franchise needs, rather than Sega's last several poor 3D Sonic endeavors.
