What game series deserves a second chance?
In light of reading that Beyond Good and Evil getting a sequel (and being quite loved by the people who have played it), what other games deserve to have a second crack at glory?
I'm kind of indifferent, but Skies of Arcadia feels like gold that Sega forgot to cash in on. On one hand I'm glad that they didn't decide to milk it for all it is worth but on the other, I could always use more Skies in my life. Either this or a new Phantasy Star game (a true Phantasy Star game)
Shenmue is another that instantly comes to my mind. It seems that Yakuza has sort of become the spiritual successor to the series and that Shenmue is all but long gone and dead so sad to see.
Panzer Dragoon either in the form of PD Saga or just as another on rails shooter. It's such a shame that one of the most visually appealing and interesting worlds ever to be created for a console has fizzled out because of poor sales. Panzer Dragoon has always been one of the most consistantly good series' that Sega has ever produced but never caught the attention of the masses.
Sky Gunner was one of the coolest and most beautiful cartoon style games on the PS2. Unfortunately it also sold quite poorly and never became popular. I can only imagine what this game could look like on the PS3 with those firework style missles and flashes on screen. Plus if they can cut out all that lag that the game had, it would be so much sweeter.
River City Ransom okay so the game has a remake on the GBA, which is quite good, but it would be awesome to see a totally brand new RCR game released on the PSP or DS. If they can make a new Dodgeball game for the DS, why not a new RCR? Just take back those character sprites, put them into new backdrops and areas of River City with a variety of weapons and Volia, new game.
lastly, Rez wouldn't it be nice to get some new beats and stages for this fantastic shooter? Rez has been fortunate enough to have been released on the DC, PS2 and most recently on Xbox live, but never got enough chance to see another new game released. The director has moved onto Q3 entertainment and will not likely come back to Sega to work on the property but the groundwork has already been laid and there is potential to get more out of it.
looking back at this...sorry for all the Sega love, but if they actually got their crap together they could really get back into the gaming world with full steam.
