Probably one of the most popular games in video game history, Chrono Trigger was announced back in July for a version on the Nintendo DS. Square Enix released some interesting news the other day stating Chrono Trigger DS will be in stores on November 25, 2008 in North America.

Square-Enix is on the ball lately. Chrono Trigger DS was just unveiled in Japan last night, and now the company has sent out a press release saying that North America will get it this holiday season. We even get our own countdown site! The press release said it takes advantage of the dual-screen/touch functionality, and that there is a brand new dungeon and wireless play. Please, remember this is a rumor. According to what is a supposed scan of this week’s Jump, Square-Enix has unveiled Chrono Trigger for the DS, another classic brought back to life. According to this “leaked” scan, it will not be upgraded to the extent of Final Fantasy III and Final Fantasy IV, but it will be an enhanced port and will hit Japan this winter. Chrono Trigger is often hailed as one of the best RPGs of all time. For many, this game set the standard for what RPGs should be. It is hard to be critical of a game that I have been playing for 13 years, so don’t expect any negativity after the break. This is as close to perfect as I’ve seen in my lifetime.

Someone has discovered that a sealed copy of Chrono Trigger for SNES purchased in 1995 has a notably greater annual rate of return than stock in Apple, EA, or Microsoft purchased around that time.
